State Games, which is held annually in
selected towns across the State.
The activities that were selected for
these games include
• 50m & 100m walk
• 50m Run
• Standing Long Jump
• Tennis Ball Throw
• Basketball Throw
• Bean Bag Accuracy
• High Jump
Each activity was completed by the
athletes with the High Jump & Bean Bag
Accuracy proving to be the most popular.
It is envisaged that another Regional
Games will be held in November 2006
based on the comments received from
the athletes and their carers on the
success of this event.
10 group leaders in Port Augusta with
approximately 40 registered walkers
involved.

There were 35 projects scheduled within
the 2005/2006 Business Plans for this
Sub Goal with 17 being completed and
18 projects carried over to the
2006/2007 Business Plans.

GOALS & TARGETS FOR 2006/2007:
In addition to the ongoing projects from
2005/2006, the following projects are
listed in the 2006/2007 Business Plans:
Bean Bag Accuracy
1. Finalise review into the Port Augusta
Football League.
2. Conduct a Sports Audit of the City’s
facilities and options to assist future
planning of sports & recreation plans.
3. Finalise implementation of Aboriginal
Consultative Group.
Just Walk It
High Jump
In conjunction with the Flinders & Far
North Community Health Service, “Just
Walk It” was introduced to Port Augusta.
“Just Walk It” is a community based
walking program that uses volunteer
walk organisers to lead small groups of
people to walk in their local area.
Walkers are eligible for incentives at
particular milestones. Currently we have
