December 18: Seniors Meet with Staff.<br />

Each month the Senior Center staff meets with<br />

seniors <strong>to</strong> share ideas and concerns. Come on<br />

<strong>do</strong>wn and br<strong>in</strong>g your ideas! Make our Senior<br />

Center the best! Meet<strong>in</strong>gs beg<strong>in</strong> at 9:15 AM.<br />

December 19: This month’s Golden<br />

Fellowship meet<strong>in</strong>g is our annual Holiday<br />

Banquet. Golden Fellowship meets on the third<br />

Wednesday <strong>of</strong> every month. Jo<strong>in</strong> us for a short<br />

meet<strong>in</strong>g, food, enterta<strong>in</strong>ment, trips and other<br />

activities. $2.00 per year. Call 285-1992 for<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation about the banquet.<br />

December 20: The Senior Foot Cl<strong>in</strong>ic<br />

beg<strong>in</strong>s at 9:00 AM at the Senior Center. $22.00<br />

payable <strong>to</strong> the nurse. Call 285-1992 <strong>to</strong> sign up.<br />

December 21: The ROLEO Club (Retired<br />

Old Women Eat<strong>in</strong>g Out) Meets at Friendly’s<br />

on Route 75 <strong>in</strong> W<strong>in</strong>dsor Locks once a month.<br />

The club gives ladies age 55 or older a chance<br />

<strong>to</strong> meet and enjoy each other’s company and<br />

solve the problems <strong>of</strong> the world. This is an<br />

on-go<strong>in</strong>g club and new members are always<br />

welcome. Cost is determ<strong>in</strong>ed by what you order.<br />

December 26: Today’s the day we celebrate<br />

the birthday <strong>of</strong> every W<strong>in</strong>dsor senior born <strong>in</strong><br />

December. Call 285-1843 the Friday before and<br />

let us know you are a birthday person. Your<br />

lunch is free and we’ll even s<strong>in</strong>g “Happy<br />

Birthday” <strong>to</strong> you. The celebration takes place<br />

from 11:45 AM <strong>to</strong> 12:30 PM. Call 285-1843<br />

<strong>to</strong> sign up for lunch.<br />

December 28: The annual New Year’s<br />

Celebration will be held <strong>to</strong>day from 7:00 PM<br />

<strong>to</strong> 11:00 PM. There will be a social hour and sit<br />

<strong>do</strong>wn d<strong>in</strong>ner. Dance <strong>to</strong> the popular “Rhythm<br />

Orchestra”. Relax and enjoy the fun! It will<br />

be better than ever this year. Please make<br />

reservations by December 21. $5.00. For more<br />

Seniors are welcome <strong>to</strong> jo<strong>in</strong> these on-go<strong>in</strong>g programs at any time<br />

Water Aerobics: Beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g September 10,<br />

this class will be held every Monday and<br />

Wednesday at the Hil<strong>to</strong>n Garden Hotel <strong>in</strong><strong>do</strong>or<br />

pool. The Hil<strong>to</strong>n Garden is on Day Hill Road <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong><br />

Poquonock Avenue. Classes run from 1:15 PM <strong>to</strong><br />

2:15 PM. Exercises are <strong>do</strong>ne <strong>in</strong> shallow water and<br />

<strong>do</strong> not require swimm<strong>in</strong>g or putt<strong>in</strong>g the head<br />

under water. Please come <strong>to</strong> the Senior Center<br />

prior <strong>to</strong> the start date for this class <strong>to</strong> make the<br />

payment for the month and fill out a waiver. This<br />

is a great exercise program for those with arthritis.<br />

Cost: $3.50 per class if paid by the month or<br />

$5.00 per class if paid as you go.<br />

Chess Club: This group meets at the<br />

Senior Center once a week on Wednesdays at<br />

10:30 AM, and stay as long as you like. Br<strong>in</strong>g<br />

your own chess set or use ours. New players<br />

always welcome. Free.<br />

Quilters Club: Want <strong>to</strong> learn new techniques<br />

for that quilt<strong>in</strong>g project Jo<strong>in</strong> our Quilters Club and<br />

share your experience (or <strong>in</strong>experience) with us.<br />

They meet the first and third Wednesdays <strong>of</strong> each<br />

month <strong>to</strong> exchange quilt<strong>in</strong>g tips and ideas. The<br />

group welcomes all ideas and suggestions <strong>to</strong><br />

make this a fun club. The meet<strong>in</strong>gs take place<br />

from 10:00 AM <strong>to</strong> 11:30 AM.<br />

Tap Danc<strong>in</strong>g: Held every Thursday from 1:00<br />

PM <strong>to</strong> 2:00 PM. Jo<strong>in</strong> a group <strong>of</strong> men and women<br />

who have been enjoy<strong>in</strong>g tap danc<strong>in</strong>g on Thursday<br />

afternoons. Work on rout<strong>in</strong>es and learn the steps<br />

as you go. This is great fun and wonderful exercise.<br />

Aerobics: Held every Monday, Wednesday and<br />

Friday at 9:00 AM at the Senior Center beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />

September 5. Weights are available for your use.<br />

Newcomers are welcome. $2.00 per class or<br />

$1.00 per class if you pay by the month.<br />

Easy Exercise: is held every Tuesday and<br />

Thursday at 9:00 AM at the Senior Center.<br />

Stretch, exercise and walk<strong>in</strong>g are all <strong>in</strong>cluded.<br />

$2.00 per class or $1.00 per class if you pay by<br />

the month. New participants always welcome.<br />

TOPS: Meets every Wednesday at 9:15 AM at<br />

the Senior Center. Ga<strong>in</strong> support and <strong>in</strong>formation <strong>to</strong><br />

help take <strong>of</strong>f weight and keep it <strong>of</strong>f. New members<br />

always welcome.<br />

Wi<strong>do</strong>w/Wi<strong>do</strong>wer Support Group: Meets<br />

every Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Senior Center.<br />

You’re never alone because there are others like<br />

yourself. Come meet new friends. Free.<br />

Setback: The players all gather <strong>in</strong> the Senior<br />

Center every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:45 PM.<br />

Scrabble: Meet every Tuesday at 10:00 AM and<br />

keep the m<strong>in</strong>d sharp! At the Senior Center. Free.<br />

B<strong>in</strong>go: The games are every Monday and Friday<br />

from 12:45 PM <strong>to</strong> 2:30 PM. This is a popular<br />

activity but there’s always room for one more. At<br />

the Senior Center.<br />

Walk<strong>in</strong>g Club: This group walks 2.2 miles<br />

every Tuesday morn<strong>in</strong>g at 9:00 AM start<strong>in</strong>g at the<br />

Senior Center and 2.5 miles on Thursday at 9:00<br />

AM start<strong>in</strong>g at the Dog Pound on Mechanics Street<br />

for a walk around the Loomis campus. If the<br />

weather is poor, meet at the Senior Center.<br />

Walkers <strong>to</strong>tal their miles, chart it on a map and<br />

reach far away dest<strong>in</strong>ations. Free.<br />

Bridge: It happens every Tuesday and Thursday<br />

at 10:00 AM at the Senior Center. New experienced<br />

participants always welcome.<br />

P<strong>in</strong>ochle: The players gather every Monday at<br />

1:30 PM at the Senior Center. If you <strong>do</strong>n’t know<br />

the game, someone will be glad <strong>to</strong> help you<br />

learn. Free. New participants always welcome.<br />

The Thursday Club meets at 9:30 AM every<br />

Thursday beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g September 6. A group <strong>of</strong><br />

ladies makes items for poor children <strong>in</strong> Haiti. Even<br />

if you <strong>do</strong>n’t sew, there are <strong>lot</strong>s <strong>of</strong> other th<strong>in</strong>gs you<br />

can <strong>do</strong> <strong>to</strong> help. The group needs old sheets, shirts<br />

(clean and light colors) and children’s c<strong>lot</strong>hes<br />

sizes 0 <strong>to</strong> 12. Drop <strong>in</strong> any Thursday. Free.<br />

L<strong>in</strong>e Danc<strong>in</strong>g: You won’t need a partner <strong>to</strong> jo<strong>in</strong><br />

the l<strong>in</strong>e dancers from 12:30 PM <strong>to</strong> 2:00 PM<br />

every Wednesday at the Senior Center beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />

September 12. New dancers always welcome.<br />

Square Danc<strong>in</strong>g: Held every Thursday from<br />

1:15 PM <strong>to</strong> 3:15 PM beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 4. Enjoy<br />

fast paced old fashioned square danc<strong>in</strong>g called by<br />

Ed Rutty. No partner needed. Call Dave Mart<strong>in</strong> at<br />
