Summer Gardens and Flowers
SERIES
Earn your Flowers and Gardener badges
while exploring Sarah’s Garden, a 1872
garden restoration, with experts from
the U of I Master Gardeners of McLean
County and the David Davis Mansion
Foundation. In the Gardener Badge
workshop, learn about the history,
design, and flowers grown in Sarah’s
Garden and experiment with the use of
soil, water, and sunlight in growing plants.
Make a mini-fairy garden to take home. In
the Flowers Badge workshop, you’ll
become a botanist on a flower hunt.
Learn how flowers were used to heal
illnesses in earlier times and create a
special Tussie Mussie that you can take
home.

In advance of the class, learn more about
Judge David Davis, his wife Sarah, and their
friendship with Abraham Lincoln at
www.daviddavismansion.org. Wear clothes
to work in the garden and bring a water
bottle and camera. Girls must attend with a
troop leader or parent.

Marengo Cave Adventures
EVENT
Travel to Southern Indiana as we explore
the amazing Marengo Cave systems.
Stay in a bunkhouse and spend the day
exploring caves high and low - oh, the
places we will go... getting down and
dirty in the mud to crawl our way out of
the cave to the stream. Make plans to
join in on this great caving adventure!

Alice’s Adventure in Animation
EVENT
Using an innovative 3D programming
environment that makes it easy to
create an animated story or interactive
game or share a video on the web, we will
be creating our own virtual world . Learn
how easy computer programming can
be or simply impress your friends,
teachers, and parents as you jazz up
your next school report! We will take a
look at the It’s Your Story Journey and
you will get to tell your story using Alice!
A CD of the Alice software will be
provided to each girl.

Grab your naturalist hat and get ready to
get to know trees, from the shade to the
science, the fruit to the forest, and the
legends to the lumber. To know trees is
to love them.
