[c.1912]. Oblong small folio (230 by 290mm.) Thirty-nine
mounted gelatin silver print photos, images mostly approximately
90 by 110mm., pasted back to back on album leaves throughout,
contemporary cloth, frayed.
An inscription in the front indicates that this may
have been compiled by E. D. Bally, Major, 2nd
Light Infantry.
Most images depicting native people, many posed
portraits of groups of women and some of men,
a few river scenes and background images of
dwellings, largely uncaptioned, though one noting
the tallest girl the photographer had seen, another
of the oldest woman in the tribe, one on the front
pastedown captioned ‘Colours of the “Ninth”, Wau,
Bahr al Ghazal, 1912.
