Ex-Parklander Goes Online As a former Parkland resident who recently relocated to New York, I was glad to hear from friends that the Parklander is online. I especially enjoy the golf and race track columns. That’s all I did while living in South Florida — golf and go to the track. I look forward to reading your magazine online each month. John Meservey Brooklyn Interested In Tennis Lessons I’m interested in taking tennis lessons and perhaps playing on a doubles team. Any information you can provide for getting me started would be great. Tiffany Terrazzano Coral Springs Tennis columnist Dan Smithyman reponds: There are several very good tennis clubs in the area. The Tennis Club at Cypresshead is, generally speaking, for residents of Cypresshead. For Parkland residents, the city runs some programs at the Terramar Park location. Local tennis clubs would include Eagle Trace (954-341-1020), The Tennis Center of Coral Springs (954-344-1840) Coral Springs Country Club (954-753-2970) and Deer Creek Country Club (954-421-5555). DiMare Points The Way I have two observations regarding Marcy DiMare’s column on water gardening in the November edition. The Web site c2designinc.com has to do with creating Web sites. I am not sure you intended that url to be there. The aquascapedesigns.com Web site seems to have been taken over by some general purpose web server that does not take one to waterfalls, ponds and pumps. Perhaps you could notify the site owners. I’m trying to find a better company to replace my standard pond filtering system with an improved mechanical and biological filtration system. Dr. C.L. Aquascapedesigns.com is the company that developed the water filtration system and ecosystem pond that requires very little maintenance. I am sure that you will find Oronzo to be the person you are looking for. January Library Happenings Tuesday, Jan. 11: Registration begins for children’s story hour programs for the January-May session. In person registration starts at 10 a.m. and at noon by phone. Parkland Library cardholders only. Saturday, Jan. 15, 1-3:30 p.m.: Parkland Library Film Discussion Group. The group will view Osama, the first entirely Afghan film shot since the fall of the Taliban. Popcorn and refreshments will be served. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2-3 p.m.: Horse Program for Parkland Families. Everything you wanted to know about horses in Parkland but didn’t know where to start. Parkland Horseman’s Association president Maria Kokonacus and member Lauri Giafaglione will cover a variety of topics. Monday, Jan. 31, 10:30 -11:30 a.m.: Parkland Library Book Discussion The group will discuss a classic, The Good Earth, by Pearl Buck. Refreshments will be served.
