A number of Monsanto programs designed
to foster inclusion, contribution, development,
and teamwork help to achieve these goals.
At the core, a strong focus on diversity enables
Monsanto’s broadly multicultural workforce
to recognize, appreciate, and fulfill the great
potential that various cultural backgrounds
bring to the workplace. Cultural differences are
seen as offering many advantages. All employees,
as part of their yearly goal-setting and
personal-development plan, include at least
one goal that enhances diversity and inclusion.
There is also a formal mentoring program that
makes feedback a part of each employee’s
yearly goal setting.
To encourage a good work/home balance,
Monsanto offers benefits for domestic partners,
on-site day care, fitness centers at some
locations, and flexible hours and job-sharing
where appropriate. Monsanto’s vacation policy
gives full-time employees four weeks off after
three years. All employees get 13 or 14
holidays per year.
Attractive salaries, great medical, dental,
and retirement programs, a stock-matching
investment program, annual incentive awards,
and a long-term stock option incentive
program are available to every full-time
Monsanto employee.
Monsanto makes every effort to create a
great work environment because, ultimately,
it is the people who are responsible for the
company’s success. Monsanto works hard
to let employees know they are appreciated.
Awards programs such as the Monsanto
Pledge Awards honor demonstrations of the
Pledge in action. Other programs include
the Insanely Great Customer Challenge
Awards, Rapid Recognition Awards, and
awards programs in individual organizations
including human resources, finance,
information technology, manufacturing,
and technology.
It all seems to be working. Monsanto
has received many external awards and
recognitions, including a listing on Fortune
magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work. (See
page 42 for a list of all awards.)
What the world sees when it looks at
Monsanto is a solid, successful, and sociallyresponsible
company. That image is the
outcome of the hard work and effort of all
employees. The Monsanto philosophy is to
provide the leadership framework and the
support necessary to create a fulfilling
workplace where people can be their most
productive and creative, and where they
can build success.
