THE SCORE by Heiko Maile
Heiko freelances as a producer, composer and keyboarder in Stuttgart, Berlin and as
part of the Frankfurt composers' collective "Gutleut.tv".
His musical forte is composing and creating electronic music. Working closely with the
contemporary youth trends.
THE THEME SONG:
Apollo 3 - "Superhelden" (Sony Music)
"I believe in you, just like you believe in me!" raps Marvin, 12-year-old MC of aPOLLO
3. Driven by Dario's energetic guitar riffs, Henry makes it clear in the refrain: "You can
be, you can be a superhero!" And that's not only what the theme song is about, but the
whole movie as well: Courage and friendship, and how together they can make you a
superhero.
Just like the NASA missions they get their name from, aPOLLO 3 consists of three
crew members. Henry, the thoughtful singer, has a voiuce full of depth and emotion. MC
Marvin adds the requisite coolness and street cred to their tracks with his stylish raps.
And with his jagged-edge, massive guitar riffs, Dario supplies the adrenaline-heavy rock
backing.
The three 12-year-olds have been on their mission since 2006, when they met in school
and began locking themselves into Henry's basement to make music. More or less by
accident, their teacher found out about their band and introduced them to a music
producer she knew: Niko visited the kids at school, sat down at the drum kit with them
and started jamming with them – and was totally exhilarated by his find. Niko and the
kids worked on their tracks for a year until playing "Superheroes" for the filmmakers,
who were so excited they immediately turned it into the title track of the film.
After the film release on March 26 th , 2009, the single hit the stores April 3 rd and has
been in the German Top 100 ever since, putting the kids one step closer to their idols
like Linkin Park and Green Day, and their goal of being the world's youngest rock band.
aPOLLO 3 are three kids on a mission.
