STORY
No doubt about it: The Crocodiles are the coolest gang of kids in town. To make sure it
stays that way, Chief Crocodile Olli (MANUEL STEITZ) makes every new member pass
a dare. Every Crocodile–except Olli's big sister Maria (LEONIE TEPE), the gang's only
girl–had to climb the roof of the deserted old brick factory: Frank, the big loudmouth
(DAVID HÜRTEN), aspiring hipster Elvis (NICOLAS SCHINSECK), Jorgo the Greek
(JAVIDAN IMANI), even scaredy-cat Peter (ROBIN WALTER). And Hannes (NICK
ROMEO REIMANN) urgently wants to be a Crocodile, too: He climbs a rusty fireescape
ladder up to the roof of the brick works – finding the hidden Crocodile insignia
which makes him a ful-fledged member of the gang. But on his way down, the ladder
gives way, Hannes winds up clinging to the roof. Miraculously, the fire department
shows up just in time to save Hannes from the worst.
But who called 911? The fire fighters tell Hannes the name and address of his rescuer,
and he goes to thank him: It's Kai (FABIAN HALBIG), who had an accident that left him
quadriplegic, in a wheelchair. He saw Hannes dangling from the roof through his
telescope and called for help. Hannes at first feels awkward calling on Kai to thank him,
but soon takes a liking to the handicapped kid. Hannes suggests making Kai a
Crocodile, but the rest of the gang is against it. Especially Olli and Frank don't want a
"retard" in the gang, who can't even run away in a pinch.
One night, the kiosk run by Hannes' Mom (NORA TSCHIRNER) gets broken into and
robbed bare. It's a serious setback for Hannes and his Mom, who's a single mom
putting herself through mail-order college on the side. She doesn't have the time or the
money to fix the shop up again. On the condition he can join the Crocodiles, Kai tells
Hannes that not only did he witness the burglarly, he even knows where the crooks
have their hideout: In the old brick works!
Now, the Crocodiles are on a mission: They have to solve the case of the burglary, to
collect the reward so they can help Hannes and his Mom. Kai is allowed to tag along,
and together the kids manage to discover the hideout where the loot is hidden.
Unfortunately all the evidence points to Frank's big brother Dennis (JACOB
MATSCHENZ) being one of the burglars. When Hannes voices what everyone suspects
and threatens to tell the police, the Crocodiles turn against him: They want to protect
Dennis–after all, he's Frank's brother. Even Kai turns away from Hannes, not wanting to
lose his new-found friends. But when Dennis and his accomplices Kevin (AXEL STEIN)
and Achmed (OKTAY ÖZDEMIR) jump Kai on the way home and injure him, the
Crocodiles have had enough and decide to tell the cops.
For the sergeant on duty, however (RALF RICHTER), it's an open and shut case.
Dennis and his buddies have fingered a group of poor Albanian kids from the
neighborhood for the crime–for which they even want to collect the reward! The last
thing the desk cop needs is a bunch of smart-ass kids causing him extra paperwork.
