Betty Russell Gates: Born on an oil lease in Oklahoma in<br />

1927. Her art career began with John Frank, Frankhoma<br />

Pottery in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. After a brief time at<br />

Arkansas A&M, Gates graduated from <strong>Art</strong> Instruction Inc.<br />

in commercial art.<br />

I have been to many now over the years, and when I photograph<br />

the animals within I try to create with the ensuing images a<br />

rapport with the viewer, something to make them really look.<br />
