<strong>Frontier</strong>-<strong>Vietnam</strong><br />
S<strong>in</strong>ce 1993, <strong>Frontier</strong>-<strong>Vietnam</strong> has implemented extensive biodiversity surveys, natural resource<br />
assessments, socio-economic research, environmental education, awareness rais<strong>in</strong>g activities and<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> protected areas of Northern <strong>Vietnam</strong>.<br />
Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources<br />
The Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (IEBR) is an <strong>in</strong>stitute under the National Centre for<br />
Sciences, Hanoi. IEBR has carried a wide range of biological and ecological research all over <strong>Vietnam</strong><br />
and has collaborated by a wide range of national and <strong>in</strong>ternational organisations.<br />
Society for <strong>Environmental</strong> Exploration<br />
The Society is a non-profit mak<strong>in</strong>g company limited by guarantee and was formed <strong>in</strong> 1989. The<br />
Society’s objectives are to advance field research <strong>in</strong>to environmental issues and implement practical<br />
projects contribut<strong>in</strong>g to the conservation of natural resources. Projects organised by The society are<br />
jo<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong>itiatives developed <strong>in</strong> collaboration with national research agencies <strong>in</strong> co-operat<strong>in</strong>g countries.<br />
<strong>Bai</strong> <strong>Tu</strong> <strong>Long</strong> Biodiversity Awareness Project<br />
The <strong>Bai</strong> <strong>Tu</strong> <strong>Long</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Biodiversity Awareness Project (BTLBBAP) aims to raise biodiversity<br />
awareness and to facilitate conservation measures <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Bai</strong> <strong>Tu</strong> <strong>Long</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> National Park, Van Don<br />
District, Quang N<strong>in</strong>h. (MAP) It will achieve this through assist<strong>in</strong>g the National Park’s many<br />
stakeholders to meet the conservation obligations committed to <strong>Vietnam</strong>ese law under the Biodiversity<br />
Action Plan, 1994.<br />
<strong>Frontier</strong>-<strong>Vietnam</strong> Forest <strong>Research</strong> Programme<br />
The aim of the programme is to provide the <strong>Vietnam</strong>ese Government with the comprehensive<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation on the nation’s protected areas. Each research expedition assesses the extent and the<br />
condition of forest cover, identifies the different species of fauna and flora and maps the forests as a<br />
source of food, medic<strong>in</strong>e and build<strong>in</strong>g materials for the local people, community based work is also<br />
important to assess how reliant communities are on these resources.<br />
