The Company
reduced its financial
debt of 14 million
euros, thanks to better
management of the
stock and reduction in
costs as
a consequence.
The real beam consumption during
2011/2012, which is the core business of
Duferdofin-Nucor, proved to be irregular
and diminishing in comparison with the
already insufficient volume of the previous
year. In particular, the second part of the
year showed an unsatisfactory tendency
with consumption quite similar to the first
semester of the “annus horribilis 2009”.
All HE and IPE sections of medium and
large dimension, which are made in the
Giammoro Mill and are linked to the
infrastructure and to the construction
of big production sites, showed an
extremely low trend in consumption in
most of the European countries. Only
some countries in the North of Europe,
Germany, for example, showed a less
negative trend. In the Italian market, the
volume was inferior to the 50% of the
pre-crisis period, and Spain and Greece
had a major downturn in comparison to
our national market. The market price
continued to fall during the second part
of the year, the imbalance between
demand and supply influenced by the
decreasing consumption in the Maghreb
and Golfo areas.
