CITY OF FLORESVILLE MASTER PLAN<br />

• The Floresville Hike and Bike Trail (Greenway)—which is a 2 mile hiking trail along the old<br />

railroad right of way with railroad depot and bathroom facilities.<br />

• The <strong>Wilson</strong> <strong>County</strong> Community Center (Recreational Facility)—which currently contains a<br />

community center with reception hall and gym.<br />

• Canta Rana “Singing Frogs” Park (Neighborhood Park)—which contains 4 picnic tables and a play<br />

structure.<br />

• Skate Park (Neighborhood Park)—which has a skateboarding area complete with ramps, jumps,<br />

rails, stairs, boxes, 2 picnic tables, and restrooms.<br />

Other parks within the community are:<br />

• Masonic Youth Park (Neighborhood Park)—which has 6 soccer fields, 2 picnic tables and<br />

restrooms.<br />

• <strong>Wilson</strong> <strong>County</strong> Show Barn (Recreational Facility) —which has a show barn and rodeo arena.<br />

• American Legion Park (Mini Park)—which has 2 tennis courts, 2 basketball courts, 2 picnic<br />

tables, the American Legion Hall, and restrooms.<br />

• Maverick Golf Club (recreational facility)—18 hole golf course with putting green, driving green,<br />

and rental clubs and carts.<br />

Level of Service Analysis<br />

Though most of the parks are located within Floresville, many people outside the city actively use them.<br />

In light of this, the Floresville CCD population was used as the service area, which accounts for a<br />

significant portion of the overall <strong>Wilson</strong> <strong>County</strong> residents. The population of this area for 2012 and 2022<br />

was estimated by applying a linear growth formula using 2000 and 2010 census data. Facilities desired<br />

per population were referenced from the 2007 Recreational Plan. The facilities available and needed<br />

within Floresville can be seen in the table below.<br />
