Several options exist for increasing the capacity of the aeration portion of the treatment process. Option<br />

1 is to simply increase the volume of the existing oxidation ditch by raising the walls and adding<br />

additional aerators. Option 2 is to retrofit the existing oxidation ditch to use a complete mix, rather than<br />

an extended aeration process. Option 3 is to construct an additional oxidation ditch. The relative merits<br />

and costs of these options should be carefully considered as the first step in the design process.<br />
