SAVE THE PLANET: BE FRUGAL IN ALL USAGE
PA N O R A M A O F E V E N T S
Despite record-breaking
snowstorms, a huge crowd turned
up at the seminar. The guests
were first shown a video on global
warming and were then addressed
by three speakers who exposed the cruelty involved in the animal industry and explained how
keeping a meat-free diet can solve the current global climate change crisis. Their compassionate
appeal moved many in attendance to tears. One of them said, “What I took for granted was wrong.
I need to re-examine my diet now.” Another commented, “I learned about things that haven’t been
reported by the media, and I benefited a lot.” A company director indicated that he will act as a
spokesman regarding this climate change issue and will pass on the information to others. A 75-
year-old scientist showed great enthusiasm in learning vegan cooking. In addition, the delicious
vegan lunch served after the event was truly appreciated by all. At the end, one of the guests
invited our Association members to give a lecture in his city and offered to help.
Gunma Association members were greatly encouraged by the positive feedback from the
seminars and are determined to organize more in the future to spread the SOS message as much
as possible.
Vegan Diet Public Awareness Campaign
By Busan News Group (Originally in Korean)
[Busan] Our local Association members
held banners to spread the vegan
message at Gwangalli Beach during the
Busan International Fireworks Festival on
October 23, Golden Year 7 (2010).
Traditionally, Korean people celebrate the
beginning of a new year by watching the
first sunrise of the year and making a wish
to the rising sun. On that day in Busan,
many people gathered at Haeundae Beach
before daybreak to watch the sunrise. So
our local fellow initiates took the opportunity
to hand out SOS flyers and CDs as well as
holding banners to inform people about the
benefits of the vegan diet.
