AirTrain JFK Continues to Soar

automated guideway
transit system set a
new record with 5.3
million paying riders in
2009. Annual paying
passenger volume has
risen steadily every
year since the system opened
in 2004.

Most challenging aspects: “There
are always challenges at the airports.
With more than 100 million customers,
you never know what will
happen on a daily basis. I hear from
more than 2,500 customers a year on
the good and the bad of the airport
experience. And with the new federal
regulations for security screening and
the new Flight Delay Passenger
Protection rules that will be in effect
very soon, there will be a service
impact on our customers.”
Personal interests: Traveling,
reading, and cooking.
Thoughts about the job:
“I think the Port Authority is a wonderful
place to work. It provides me with
opportunities and challenges that I
would not be able to experience
elsewhere. There are many talented
and dedicated people here and I
think that’s what makes it great.”

vaccinations at its four clinics. Health officials
warn that a possible third wave of flu
could emerge in the coming weeks, so it is
advisable to be vaccinated as soon a possible.

A representative of the New York State
Deferred Compensation Plan will be on
