In September this year a deal was
finalised to officially setup AESSEAL
BRASIL Ltda.
33 year old Jose Fabio S. Camocardi, a
graduate in Mechanical Engineering and
Business Studies will lead the new operations in
Sao Paulo.
Fabio was originally involved in the foundation
of a small company supplying engineered
products in 1996, working as general manager.
The company started as a distributor for several
different companies in Brazil and after their first
year of operation started as an AESSEAL ®
distributor.
Fabio said "After some years working with
AESSEAL ® , I realized the great potential of the
company as a 'global player' and was excited
by the revolutionary approach to customer
service in the AESSEAL ® philosophy."
In June of 2000, Fabio had the opportunity to
open a small company to sell gland packings
and gasket sheets. MECAM Tecnologia was
created and started with two employees in a 50
square metre office. Following a brief period as
a non-exclusive distributor, September 2002,
MECAM and AESSEAL ® completed a "joint
venture" and formed AESSEAL BRASIL.
Soon after this, MECAM won its first great
contract as the exclusive mechanical seal
supplier for CENIBRA, a major Pulp
manufacturer in Brazil, which pushed the
company forward into the Pulp and Paper
business.
In September 2002, due to huge increases in
business, MECAM moved to new premises with
an area of almost 500 square meters. The
premises house inventory, seal assembly,
testing, repair facilities as well as sales and
administration facilities.
AESSEAL BRASIL is located in the State of Sao
Paulo, the largest city in Brazil with almost 11
million inhabitants.
They now have 10 direct employees including
Fabio and during October 2002 another 3 new
salesmen will be hired.
Fabio has ambitions to dominate the Brazilian
mechanical seals market and in his own words
says "Unfortunately, there is no reward for
second place in this game. We know it will take
a long time to become number one but I am
only 33 years old and all of our employees are
very enthusiastic."

New AESSEAL ® Non-Exec. Director
Hamdi Conger joined the Board of
AESSEAL plc as a Non-Executive
Director on 1st September 2002.
Hamdi is 51 and married with 3 children, all in
their 20s. He has extensive international general
management experience in global
engineering/transportation organisations and a
strong track record in business growth and
change management.
Recently he has been Senior Vice President of
Alstom Transport Service Business Worldwide,
an organisation with sales of US$900m. Before
that he was President of Allied Signal Sogefi
Automotive Europe.
His other roles have included Managing Director
of SCA Packaging Benelux BV; Managing
Director of AP Lockheed Automotive and
General Manager of Parker Hannifin UK.
He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from
the University of Leeds and followed that with
an MBA, majoring in Management Accounting
from the University of Bradford.
