AESSEAL ® Launches
API 610/682 & Bearing
Protector Seal Ranges
At the 2002 international sales conference in York, UK,
AESSEAL ® surprised a 150 strong audience with the
launch of two highly important new product ranges.
It is new product developments like
these that have allowed AESSEAL ®
to cover 98% of all rotating
equipment. This figure was only
60% just 6 years ago.
Chris Rea, Managing Director
of AESSEAL ® , said “this is a
very exciting time for us. These
were the last remaining
obstacles in our mission to
cover nearly all major product
markets and niches.”
These were the CAPI 610 & 682 single and
dual cartridge API mechanical seal range
and the Magtecta double seal
bearing protector .
These two new developments are
the result of at least £2M (E/$3M) of
research, development and
investment over the last couple of
years.
They will allow AESSEAL ® to
aggressively enter these highly
competitive markets with what we
believe are the most technically advanced
products in this sector.
Both ranges have many Patent Pending features
which are new, unique and help the products
perform more efficiently and last longer.
Gold Award from Thames Water
AESSEAL ® has received Gold
Supplier Performance status for
2000/2001.
The award is based on Thames Water
Engineers’ comments on the products and
services that they receive from AESSEAL plc.
A six-monthly review of performance against
Thames Water’s exacting standards is
undertaken. A minimum of 80% achievement is
required to meet Gold status.
Sue Harris, SPM Co-ordinator for Thames
Water said “Thames Water Procurement would
like to congratulate AESSEAL ® on achieving this
perceived standard and look forward to further
developing the commercial relationship
between AESSEAL ® and Thames Water.”
Richard Searle, UK Sales Engineer to Thames
The MagTecta also includes two sets of
modular mechanical seal faces. As the world’s
first modular double bearing protector, in the
opinion of AESSEAL ® , has double the protection
of a conventional single seal face design.
After many months of research and
development, AESSEAL ® is proud to
offer a product which, in its opinion,
is probably the most technologically
advanced bearing protector in the
world.
The design combines the latest AESSEAL ®
"pure innovation" with its world-leading,
customer orientated, "modular" concept.
From the company which brought to market
probably the first modular cartridge mechanical
seal range, there is now another world first – a
modular bearing protector seal range.
The MagTecta will work perfectly in both
static and dynamic rotating equipment
applications whether they are vertically or
horizontally orientated.
There are no rubbing elastomers to wear and
replace. Rubbing elastomers damage and wear
mating components, whilst simultaneously
increasing equipment power consumption.
For more information or to request a copy of
either the MagTecta brochure or training
course please contact the Marketing
Department on +44 (0) 1709 369966 or email:
marketing@aesseal.com
The MagTecta is a magnetically energized
mechanical seal, with magnetic attraction
between two stationary components. Since the
magnetic field is stationary the magnet life is
maximized and the likelihood of spark
generation is also reduced.
Due to this inherently "safe design", the
universal MagTecta can therefore be more
readily applied to all types of industrial
applications. Some examples of these follow.
“Why would anyone buy a £200
(E/$320) MagTecta, rather than a
£2.00 (E/$3.20) lip seal
To help look at the total life cost of an oil seal,
compared to a MagTecta the Company has
produced the AESSEAL ® MagTecta Return
On Investment (ROI) software!
A potential user can provide details such as
how many times the lip seals need replacing,
how much oil is lost every month etc. The ROI
software can then demonstrate the cost
benefits of the MagTecta.
New CAPI 610 & 682 Single and
Dual Range of API Seals
The American Petroleum Institute
(API) is the primary trade association
representing the oil and natural gas
industry in the United States.
The latest API specifications set strict standards
for the design and supply of mechanical seals
and systems. This rotating equipment standard
is adopted by most refinery and petrochemical
plants around the world.
It is the strict standards, investment needed and
fierce competition that have allowed only a
handfull of mechanical seal manufacturers to
supply to this industry.
AESSEAL ® made a strategic decision to enter
this market in 1999 and after an extensive
product development period lasting 3 years the
product range was finally launched in 2002 at
the International Sales Conference.
Called CAPI 610 & 682, the range comprises
of many single and dual variants designed to
cover API 682 and API 610 versions 7 and 8
applications.
One of the most innovative features of the new
range is that one modular design is the basis
for over twenty different seal types. This means
a minimum range of components can be used
to create a maximum amount of assembly
configurations for all API applications. This
helps with logistics, reduces delivery time and
leads to the most competitive pricing in the
industry.
AESSEAL ® recognizes the fact that many users
in API associated industries operate a wide
variety of rotating equipment configurations.
Such equipment has probably been
commissioned over the last few decades, by a
range of original equipment manufacturers.
Even with an exacting API 682 mechanical seal
specification, customer on-site preference,
physical equipment restrictions and even plant
worldwide location, dictate what type of
mechanical seal configuration is installed.
The AESSEAL ® API Type A, B and C single and
dual seal range offer the user an unprecedented
range of API engineered sealing solutions to suit
ALL application requirements. The modular
design allows the user to select the right
solution for their application, without being
unduly penalized with either extortionate seal
prices or long delivery times.
AS28 API Systems Range
AESSEAL ® with its new industry leading range
of seals recognises the importance of seal
support systems.
For these reasons, AESSEAL ® has designed a
range of Lloyds certified, API seal support
systems which work in conjunction with the
CAPI 610 & 682 seal range.
They are also based around the modular
principle of the AS28, which can be adapted
to suit on site specifications using a range of
add-on instrumentation packages. For more
information on the options available order the
API systems brochure below quoting reference
API Seals on www.aesseal.com and New Training Course
To assist with the selection and understanding
of the new CAPI 610 & 682 range, AESSEAL ®
has created a new training course and made
selection facilities live at www.aesseal.com.
The correspondence course gives in-depth
details of the new mechanical seals and the
market they are intended for. To request a
copy contact marketing@aesseal.com quoting
the following reference L-UK/US-AWARD-
REFINERY-03.
The API seal selection on the internet is
accessed at www.aesseal.com by entering
the Applications section, and works in two
different ways.
The second is called ‘Selection by API Type’.
This section allows users to follow API standard
procedures to select an appropriate seal and
sealing system for their application. Users are
recommended to use this section if they do not
know what standard API seals and plans are
suitable for their application.
Both methods allow users to select the exact
specification of the seal and then create a new
general assembly drawing of it.
The first is called ‘Selection by Seal Type’. This
section allows users to select an API type and
then the available AESSEAL ® API seals. This is
useful if users know what API seals they want to
use for their application / or they want to
replace a currently used AESSEAL ® API seal for
their application.
user to generate a General Assembly
drawing by inputting different variables.
New API Seals Prove Early Success
A Major North Sea Operator had
problems with leaking mechanical
seals and found that their spares had
been exhausted, hindering
production on the platform. They
contacted Sulzer Wood, their pump
service provider, who in turn
contacted AESSEAL plc Scotland for
assistance.
AESSEAL ® rose to the challenge, pulled out all
the stops, and supplied 2 off CAPI Dual A9
CWCS seals from the new CAPI 610 & 682
range in less than a week.
Iain Sim, the Scottish Sales Engineer for
AESSEAL ® said "We have been working closely
with Sulzer Wood for some time now and they
have appreciated our high standards of service.
However, this is the first time we have supplied
seals for a whole installation of critical pumps
based on our new API range of seals.”
On the back of this performance Sulzer Wood
has now agreed to use AESSEAL ® mechanical
seals wherever possible in future and have
placed an order for a further 10 seals of which 2
have already been supplied.
AESSEAL ® in Scotland will also carry a "back up
stock" to suit this particular pump application.
Iain Sim added, "We are now in the fantastic
position of having AESSEAL ® seals or systems
with every key operator in the North Sea and
this new development will enable us to
strengthen our position."
Iain wishes to thank, on behalf of the Scottish
team, all of the personnel at Rotherham and
Bradford works who helped make this possible.
Mike Collins, Internal Project Engineer for
AESSEAL ® , said "The first seals ordered
required modification to the original AESSEAL ®
concept in order for them to fit to this specific
application. This included the manufacture of a
new design back plate arrangement and
required many of the AESSEAL ® design,
inspection and manufacturing staff to work
throughout the weekend.”
HRH The Duke of York
Inspects New API Range
Above: HRH the Duke of York chats to Phil Berry, Middle East Territory Manager at the 10th APIPEC Exhibition
At the 10th ADIPEC Oil and Gas show
in Abu Dhabi, the AESSEAL ®
exhibition stand received a visit from
HRH The Duke of York.
Prince Andrew, who had visited the AES
headquarters in Rotherham in May, was
attending the exhibition to promote British
companies. When he heard AESSEAL ® had a
stand at the exhibition he insisted on paying it
a visit despite being 2 hours behind schedule.
AESSEAL ® attended the exhibition in
conjunction with its distributors Al-Sagar in a
bid to launch the new API range to one of the
worlds key oil and gas producing markets.
Many local companies were in attendance from
countries like Kuwait, Oman and The United
Arab Emirates.
Phil was joined by AES employees Charles
Stanley and Mark Page as well as distributor AL
Sagar Engineering employees John Brooker
and Amjad Qaqa’a pictured below.
Phil Berry, Territory Manager for the Middle
East, said "As soon as we heard Prince Andrew
was there we contacted his staff to ask if he
would like to visit us. However they notified us
he was 2 hours behind schedule and it looked
unlikely. We then showed them pictures of his
previous visit to AES which were handed over
to the Prince. This is when he insisted on
paying us a visit. "
During his visit to the stand the Duke was
shown the new CAPI 610 and 682
mechanical seal range for the API market and
seemed suitably impressed.
Other attendees to the stand included the Abu
Dhabi Oil and Gas Minister, Obaid bin Saif Al-
Nasseri.

AESSEAL Brasil LTDA Opens for
Trading in Sao Paulo
Jose Fabio
Camocardi -
Head of
AESSEAL Brasil
and the new
premises in Sao
Paulo
In September this year a deal was
finalised to officially setup AESSEAL
BRASIL Ltda.
33 year old Jose Fabio S. Camocardi, a
graduate in Mechanical Engineering and
Business Studies will lead the new operations in
Sao Paulo.
Fabio was originally involved in the foundation
of a small company supplying engineered
products in 1996, working as general manager.
The company started as a distributor for several
different companies in Brazil and after their first
year of operation started as an AESSEAL ®
distributor.
Fabio said "After some years working with
AESSEAL ® , I realized the great potential of the
company as a 'global player' and was excited
by the revolutionary approach to customer
service in the AESSEAL ® philosophy."
In June of 2000, Fabio had the opportunity to
open a small company to sell gland packings
and gasket sheets. MECAM Tecnologia was
created and started with two employees in a 50
square metre office. Following a brief period as
a non-exclusive distributor, September 2002,
MECAM and AESSEAL ® completed a "joint
venture" and formed AESSEAL BRASIL.
Soon after this, MECAM won its first great
contract as the exclusive mechanical seal
supplier for CENIBRA, a major Pulp
manufacturer in Brazil, which pushed the
company forward into the Pulp and Paper
business.
In September 2002, due to huge increases in
business, MECAM moved to new premises with
an area of almost 500 square meters. The
premises house inventory, seal assembly,
testing, repair facilities as well as sales and
administration facilities.
AESSEAL BRASIL is located in the State of Sao
Paulo, the largest city in Brazil with almost 11
million inhabitants.
They now have 10 direct employees including
Fabio and during October 2002 another 3 new
salesmen will be hired.
Fabio has ambitions to dominate the Brazilian
mechanical seals market and in his own words
says "Unfortunately, there is no reward for
second place in this game. We know it will take
a long time to become number one but I am
only 33 years old and all of our employees are
very enthusiastic."
"AESSEAL BRASIL must grow and will grow
fast! If we do not believe we can do it, we will
never do it!"
New AESSEAL ® Non-Exec. Director
Hamdi Conger joined the Board of
AESSEAL plc as a Non-Executive
Director on 1st September 2002.
Hamdi is 51 and married with 3 children, all in
their 20s. He has extensive international general
management experience in global
engineering/transportation organisations and a
strong track record in business growth and
change management.
Recently he has been Senior Vice President of
Alstom Transport Service Business Worldwide,
an organisation with sales of US$900m. Before
that he was President of Allied Signal Sogefi
Automotive Europe.
His other roles have included Managing Director
of SCA Packaging Benelux BV; Managing
Director of AP Lockheed Automotive and
General Manager of Parker Hannifin UK.
He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from
the University of Leeds and followed that with
an MBA, majoring in Management Accounting
from the University of Bradford.

AESSEAL PTY Wins Largest
Partnership Agreement
problems. After the design and installation of a
70mm AESSEAL ® DSWIB to suit the
equipment, this application was sealed
successfully. Since then AES has been in the
running to take over the contract when it was
due for renewal in 2002.
South African based AESSEAL (Pty)
Ltd has won its most important
contract customer following a
number of recent success stories. In
Feb 2002 they signed Unifoods as the
largest partnership agreement since
opening premises in Midrand in 1998.
The previous seal supplier has enjoyed a
luxurious income of around 4 Million Rand
(£250,000; E/$400,000) for the last 5 years as
sole supplier.
In Jan 2000, AES was approached by Unifoods
with an application with endless downtime
AESSEAL (PTY) has in the mean time done a
tremendous job of solving problem applications
where, in some instances, they where changing
anything from 2-7 seals per week. With the help
of people like Alan Roddis, Dave Hulme, John
Bright and the rest of the technical department
in AES Rotherham, another winning design was
completed and manufactured in the record time
of 3 weeks.
With the recent opening of an on site office at
Unifoods premises, AESSEAL ® has begun to
gain recognition from the parent company,
Unilever. With this in mind and the support of
the local Unifoods employees, AES has plans to
penetrate the rest of these plants in the very
near future.
The picture above shows from left to right: Tony
Fensham (Unifoods), Willem van Heerden
(Unifoods), Martin Fawcett (Unifoods), Nico van
Niekerk (AES), Bevan Braybrooke (AES), Charlie
Taite (AES).
Record Sales in South Africa
AESSEAL South Africa (PTY) has experienced a
sensational increase in turnover and net profit in
2002. Currently turnover is 26 % above budget
and 56 % above last years sales figure.
Sales have increased due to contracts with
Unifoods, Mondi etc. and customers are now
more aware of the AESSEAL ® product range,
with our quality and price being an advantage
over competitors.
Overall, it is anticipated that AESSEAL (PTY) will
grow further in 2003 and this will be achieved
with new contracts being signed with major
companies. AESSEAL (PTY) is becoming a
major player in the South African seal market ;
we also see massive growth in sales into other
African countries particularly Botswana and
Kenya.
In 2000, AESSEAL (PTY) was certified by Lloyds
as being compliant with the requirements of ISO
9002; in September 2002 they were certified by
SABS for ISO 14001. AESSEAL ® are the only
seal company in South Africa to be certified for
both ISO 9002 and ISO 14001. This should
assist AESSEAL ® in gaining additional market
share due to major companies demanding that
suppliers have both certifications.

Largest Mechanical Seal Ever
It is believed that the mechanical
seal shown in the picture opposite is
the largest ever produced by
AESSEAL ® .
The 260mm Mixer seal is designed to suit a
Davy McKee EOI Reactor which produces
Polymers.
The seal was so heavy that to move it between
machines and departments during manufacture
and assembly a crane was used.

On the 9th of October 2002, Group
Managing Director, Chris Rea O.B.E.
was pleased to attend a ‘ribbon
cutting ceremony’ to mark the
opening of new premises for
AESSEAL China Ltd.
The new state of the art facilities will be the
base for aggressive expansion into the Chinese
mechanical seal market.
The 4000 square metre building will house 45
employees who will work in all aspects of the
business from manufacturing and assembly to
administration and sales.
During Chris Rea’s opening speech he
addressed a large gathering of around 200
Chinese dignitaries, employees and customers.
Chris commented on the “Energy, enthusiasm
and commitment” of the Chinese team and
stated that AESSEAL China would play a very
important role in the future growth of the group
as a whole.
Chris continued “Our joint ventures in China are
little more than 12 months old. In that short time
we have seen major developments and
investment. Our vision for China is to pursue
excellence and to build the biggest and best
mechanical seal company in China.”
The site is now fully equipped for the
manufacture of Tungsten Carbide, a highly
technical process which is used in the faces of
mechanical seals.
The new building is located on the Hi-tech
Industrial Park, Yinzhou Central, Nigbo in China.
It is a new area developed by the Government..
Building started here in October 2001 and
construction was completely finished by the
end of August 2002. Arrangements were made
to move in on the first of September this year
before the opening ceremony on the 9th of
presence in Italy for over 7 years now and we
have seen massive growth and changes during
that time and this new development is proof of
that.”
It is expected that the new building will provide
foundations for further growth in Italy and the
development of other markets in Europe “which
Mr Striglia is heavily involved.”
Headed by Mr Silvio Striglia the 200 sq.m site
Artesz Receives Top Award
In May this year AESSEAL ®
distributor for Hungary, Artesz KFT,
celebrated its 10 year anniversary.
Artesz, which originally started selling
AESSEAL ® mechanical seals in 1994 has 5
salesmen servicing the Hungarian market
backed up by 5 office based employees.
150 delegates of Artesz’s key customers from
all parts of Hungary and out of all industry
segments celebrated with the staff of Artesz in
the famous rooms of Gödöllö castle, also
known as the castle of Sissi Kaiserin of Austria
and the Queen of Hungary.
AESSEAL ® Export Manager Peter Wicklmayr
presented an award for outstanding growth and
sales contribution to Zoltan Ferenczhalmy, MD
£20 Million (E/$32m)
Invested in “Back to Grass
Roots Campaign”
With an industry value of £5,000.00
(E/$8,000.00) per seat of software, this initiative,
including training, removes all commercial
restrictions from schools, thereby allowing
students and teachers access to cutting edge
3D CAD technology.
This strategic initiative, made in conjunction
with EDS PLM solutions, will help develop the
next generation of British designers and
engineers.
Above: Chris Newton from the AESSEAL ® Drawing Office
demonstrates 3D Solid Edge to visiting teachers.
AESSEAL ® has invested the
equivalent of over £20 million
(E/$32m) in local education in a
three-year scheme to promote
engineering, design and innovation in
South Yorkshire, England.
AESSEAL ® has sponsored up to 4,000 seats of
the latest 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design)
software to over SEVENTEEN schools, colleges
and universities which surround its UK
Headquarters in Rotherham.
Furthermore, students and teachers are
encouraged to visit the Mill Close premises to
see how the same software is applied in a
leading technological company such as
AESSEAL ® .
Alan Roddis commented "academic
establishments cannot be expected to keep
abreast of the advances in design technology.
Unfortunately this leads to major differences
between industrial practices and academic
class work. Ultimately this means students
choose career paths, unaware of such a
rewarding career in design".
The AESSEAL ® "back to grass roots campaign"
is centered on providing industrial support for
GCSE, A level and degree design and
technology students.
At the same time AESSEAL ® has stepped up its
initiative to recruit the next generation of
apprentice designers with a range of eye
catching new adverts.
The adverts shown below have been sent out to
all schools participating in its “Back to grass
roots campaign”.

AESSEAL ® Receives
Cargill Award
Dramatic changes have occurred in
the way suppliers and procurement
departments interact. Some
industries, such as automotive, have
pioneered the trend toward vendor
reduction and supplier performance
ratings.
Above: The Cargill
Supplier Quality
Recognition Award
for 2001
A number of corporations have embraced the
trend by streamlining their procurement
relationships to a key number of suppliers and
by implementing a performance measurement
program for these select suppliers.
The North American Corn Wet Milling Division of
Cargill has set the pace for vendor performance
measurements. Valerie Conard, Division
Purchasing Manager uses a Supplier Quality
Index (SQI) to measure suppliers. The index
measures how quickly a supplier acknowledges
purchase orders, the on-time delivery and days
to ship, how effectively the supplier is assisting
Cargill with inventory management and the
scope of value added services the supplier is
contributing.
In July, Jerry Carberry, Keith Hodson, Mike
Haller and Larry Reed attended the SQI Award
dinner in Omaha, Nebraska. At this dinner, AES
As well as the Refinery and Magtecta
training courses already discussed in
this document AESSEAL ® has
launched FOUR more.
The Materials Usage Training course gives a
detailed guide to materials used in mechanical
seals. Ref: L-UK/US-MATERIALS-01
Probably one of the most important training
courses is the Personal Development training
course. This captures time management and
presentation concepts and is designed to be of
specific benefit to all AESSEAL ® employees and
distributors. Ref: L-UK/US-AWARD-P-DEV-01.
best selling techniques and lessons learnt from
the top AESSEAL ® sales teams. Ref: L-UK/US-
AWARD-SALES-01.
was recognized with the 2001 Supplier Quality
Recognition Award.
Tom Grove, President of AESSEAL Inc. stated
"this award is the result of the combined efforts
of a number of individuals. The internal support
staff have worked with each of the local service
providers to make certain we have a seamless
and smooth chain of supply to Cargill.
Cargill is a very demanding and important
customer to AESSEAL ® . They are demanding in
that they expect results and they constantly
challenge us to make our program better. They
are important because they are a global
customer as well as a North American corporate
account. We enjoy an excellent relationship
with Cargill in Europe as well as other parts of
the world. We are determined to be the 2002
recipient and to repeat and even improve last
year's performance."
Chris Rea Receives O.B.E. at
Buckingham Palace
Following the announcement that
AESSEAL’s Managing Director, Chris
Rea, was being awarded the O.B.E.
(Officer of the Order of the British
Empire) in the Queen’s New Years
Honours list, he was invited to
Buckingham Palace to receive the
award.
being presented
by the H.R.H. The
AESSEAL ® Focuses on Refineries
at Sigma Exhibition
Arla Foods are the biggest dairy in
Europe, employing over 20,000
people globally and with an annual
purchasing spend of over £1 billion.
Although trading in over 100
countries prime production facilities
are in Denmark (38 sites), Sweden (29
sites) and the UK (6 sites).
Headquartered in Viby Denmark, Arla Foods
took the strategic decision during 2001 to
introduce a Global Purchasing policy. This
included implementing a new organisational
structure for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and
Operating Supplies) with two major goals. The
first was to consolidate spend and reduce total
costs and the second to secure consistent
service and build long term relationships with
preferred suppliers.
The selection process officially started in
January of 2002, and was concluded in early
AMEC, set up to support Shell
Expro's business in the North Sea.
Suppliers were invited to showcase their latest
and most innovative products that could be
used by Sigma 3 in their objective to deliver
improved production, enhanced safety or
reduced cost.
John Pedder, Charles Stanley, Mark Page and
Lee Gooch of AESSEAL ® attended the
exhibition in Aberdeen earlier this year to
promote AES products that fit some or all of the
required objectives.
AESSEAL ® Wins ARLA Foods Contract
October 2002 after a number of rounds of
proposals and presentations, with AESSEAL ®
successfully being selected as the single 'key
supplier of mechanical seals'.
The reasons that AESSEAL ® was selected
according to Arla Foods Global Purchasing
Manager, Jakob Klinggaard, was competitive
pricing and commitment to providing the
service and product at end user level to help
maximise product performance. Another major
factor was the ability to service Arla Foods in
different countries, especially Denmark
(AESSEAL Danmark), Sweden (AxFlow) and the
UK (AESSEAL plc).
When asked about thoughts on clinching such a
strategically important deal, Horst Yarrow,
AESSEAL ® Export Manager commented "As
with all Key Supplier Agreements it is not
getting the initial deal, but extending it after the
initial term as a consequence of meeting or
exceeding our customer’s expectations that
truly demonstrates our success".

AESSEAL ® Products Showcased at
BASF Exhibition
In October 2002 AESSEAL
Deutschland AG supported one of its
distributors ALW GmbH at its stand
at the BASF AG Housefair in
Ludwigshafen, Germany.
All major seal manufacturers from around
Europe were present to promote their latest
products.
This BASF Site has about 39,000 employees
and the aim of the organiser was to give all of
their interested personnel the chance to be
informed of the latest developments from their
suppliers.
At the exhibition there were two lectures from
mechanical seal manufacturers on the BASF
global specification. AESSEAL ® was presented
by Bernd Höflein explaining the advantages of
the company and its modular range of products.
New ‘International’ AESSEAL ® Website
After 4 months of intensive
development a totally new AESSEAL ®
website has been launched.
The main focus for the new website was to
create an international theme with many new
features but at the same time make it much
more easy to use.
As AESSEAL ® has become more of a global
company it is important that the website
reflects this in the best possible way.
Now, for the first time the site is available in 5
languages; English, Spanish, Italian, French and
German. All users will arrive at the English
homepage by typing in www.aesseal.com.
Then by selecting the flags in the top right hand
corner of the page the user will be directed to
the language of their choice.
The translated pages can also be selected by
typing the correct URL extension i.e. to
go to the German homepage the user
would type www.aesseal.de and for
Spain www.aesseal.es
Product Selector: This allows
the user to select a product
of their choice through lists
and pictures split into
different categories. When a
product is selected a cross
section and description
appears in the box below.
Materials Lists: All products
within the standard product
range now have a full
interactive materials list. This
allows the user to discover
the internal features of the
seal.
Downloads: For the first time
ever all literature and all
installation instruction are
available to download or view
online as Adobe PDF
documents. Please note you
will need Adobe Acrobat
Reader 4 to view these.
News: The old news section
allowed us to show only 10
items of news. The new site
has a totally new section
which allows us to archive all
news ever created into an
easily navigable list.
AESSEAL ® has added a fun element to the
website in the shape of a Pacman type game.
The usual Pacman has been altered into the
shape of an AES man which can be moved
around to eat up all the competition.
The AESSEAL ® web based general
arrangement drawing application
suite has grown rapidly over the last
twelve months.
The application has enabled users to generate
hundreds of drawings each month, instantly,
without any direct effect on AESSEAL's
resources.
Online Video: The new site
allows the user to view the
latest version of the corporate
video in 6 different sections.
This will obviously run better
on a wide band width
connection but there is also a
lower resolution version.
Location Map: The new
locations section allows the
user to select their nearest
AESSEAL ® branch or
Distributor.
G.A. Drawings on the AESSEAL ® Website
equipment and now consists of over 187 OEM
partners, offering in excess of 1550 drawing
templates.
The section covers AESSEAL ® “Standard
products” and consists of over 20 standard seal
product ranges including a single spring section
with T05 product information for the "Flygt"
series pumps. Practically all the standard
system product ranges are also available.
The software is split into two sections, under
the “Application” button on the home page.
The first section covers solutions for OEM
Some drawings are now available in Chinese,
Spanish and German. These will be further
developed over the next 6 months.

Product Selection Made Easy
As the AESSEAL ® product range
grows ever bigger and more complex
there is the problem of identifying the
correct seal for an application.
AESSEAL ® has now launched a Product
Selector tool that allows its user to specify an
AESSEAL ® Mechanical seal via a simple
multiple choice method.
The new tool is available to anyone who visits
the AESSEAL ® website at www.aesseal.com.
Once at the website the user should go to the
Products section and click on the Product
Selector icon.
number of questions accompanied by
diagrams.
The questions start with the basic question of
Seal or System. From here on the user is asked
what is the application, whether a single or
double seal is required and so on until they
arrive at a named product.
Once a product is identified the user has links to
all other product information on the website
such as literature and installation instructions.
From here the user has the choice of either
accessing the product information by choosing
the name of the seal in a drop down menu or
going through the multiple choice questions.
The multiple choice method allows the user to
arrive at the correct product for them via a
Selector showing the drop
supplier performance and cost analysis. We
went through several stages which included
detailed negotiations. In the end I think we were
chosen because of our history of providing
exceptional service to the industry."
This award is the culmination of a project led by
Dave Minshall that has lasted over 6 months.
Dave said "The process involved putting
together a bid which had to include historical
Charles Stanley, Projects Manager for
AESSEAL ® commented that “This is the route
more and more pump manufacturers are taking,
making it ever more important to gain this kind
of preferred supplier status.”
AESSEAL ® Customer Service Portal
The International Sales Conference in
York saw the launch of the prototype
AESSEAL ® customer portal.
The full launch of this service will enable
AESSEAL ® customers to enquire on outstanding
orders and enquiries as well as carrying out live
online inventory and pricing checks.
Initial trials of the portal have received a lot of
positive feedback. Enquiries can be made on
any of the main supply centres via the global
AESSEAL ® Wide Area Network.
Online access to historical and live ordering
information and the ability to see whether an
AESSEAL ® site can build and ship a particular
seal from stock will provide a real benefit to
some of the major customers of the AESSEAL ®
group. It is expected this will be available from
January 2003.
