22. Earnings per ordinary share - Group
22.1 Basic earnings per ordinary share
The calculation of basic earnings per ordinary share at 31 December 2008 was based on the profit
attributable to ordinary shareholders of RM336,383,000 (2007 - RM188,133,000) and the weighted average
number of ordinary shares outstanding during the year of 3,822,261,000 (2007 - 3,675,652,000).

The previous year’s earnings per ordinary share has been restated based on the profit attributable
to ordinary shareholders of RM188,133,000 and the weighted average number of ordinary shares
outstanding during the year of 3,675,652,000 ordinary shares after taking into consideration the bonus
issue of 2,637,394,000 ordinary shares of RM0.25 each.
22.2 Diluted earnings per ordinary share
The calculation of diluted earnings per ordinary share is based on the profit attributable to ordinary
shareholders of RM336,383,000 (2007 - RM188,133,000) and weighted average number of ordinary
shares outstanding during the year of 3,861,444,000 (2007 - 3,722,899,000).
