information on the drugs that are being used in <strong>Nevada</strong>,<br />
and by whom. Data has been collected from SAPTA<br />
and government organizations, state and national<br />
law enforcement agencies, and health and treatment<br />
programs. Dialogue and conversation is encouraged with<br />
the intent <strong>of</strong> enhancing the participant’s knowledge and<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> the current trends regarding alcohol<br />
and other drugs.<br />

Accidental drug overdoses claims more lives each year<br />
than firearms, homicides or HIV/AIDS. Accidental drug<br />
overdose is currently the leading cause <strong>of</strong> injury-related<br />
death in the United <strong>State</strong>s for people between the ages<br />
<strong>of</strong> 35-54 and the second leading cause <strong>of</strong> injury-related<br />
death for young people. This workshop will cover<br />
classifications <strong>of</strong> overdose, review illegal and legal drugs<br />
that are being abused, barriers to seeking medical care<br />
and prevention take home messages.<br />

This 2-day workshop is designed to examine the<br />
relationship between overall health and recovery for<br />
females in substance abuse treatment. Participants will<br />
gain knowledge and resources to assist in the treatment<br />
<strong>of</strong> women by utilizing the health and body image<br />
curriculum, Healthy Steps to Freedom. Body image,<br />
nutrition, physical activity, body composition, calories<br />
& metabolism, eating disorders, cognitive thinking, and<br />
eating behaviors will be discussed. At the conclusion <strong>of</strong><br />
the workshop, participants will receive the curriculum<br />
manual used to facilitate the Healthy Steps to Freedom<br />
Curriculum.<br />
