information on the drugs that are being used in Nevada,
and by whom. Data has been collected from SAPTA
and government organizations, state and national
law enforcement agencies, and health and treatment
programs. Dialogue and conversation is encouraged with
the intent of enhancing the participant’s knowledge and
understanding of the current trends regarding alcohol
and other drugs.

Accidental drug overdoses claims more lives each year
than firearms, homicides or HIV/AIDS. Accidental drug
overdose is currently the leading cause of injury-related
death in the United States for people between the ages
of 35-54 and the second leading cause of injury-related
death for young people. This workshop will cover
classifications of overdose, review illegal and legal drugs
that are being abused, barriers to seeking medical care
and prevention take home messages.

This 2-day workshop is designed to examine the
relationship between overall health and recovery for
females in substance abuse treatment. Participants will
gain knowledge and resources to assist in the treatment
of women by utilizing the health and body image
curriculum, Healthy Steps to Freedom. Body image,
nutrition, physical activity, body composition, calories
& metabolism, eating disorders, cognitive thinking, and
eating behaviors will be discussed. At the conclusion of
the workshop, participants will receive the curriculum
manual used to facilitate the Healthy Steps to Freedom
Curriculum.
