Idyllwild was recently published
in the national magazine
Good Old Days Specials.
Fiddler is a freelance writer
who has been submitting
original stories to publishers
for two years.
The January 2006 issue
of Good Old Days Specials
magazine features Fiddler’s
story, “The Christmas Bike.”
Fiddler has been writing
for 40 years, working primarily
in short stories, and has
just completed his first novel.
He is a retired graphic artist
and enjoys ceramics and
painting with acrylics.
Fiddler is an award-winning
member of the Art
Alliance of Idyllwild and a
member of Gabriella Dapeer’s
Writer’s Group.
He has two children and
five grandchildren …
The Community Foundation
Ser v ing Riverside
and San Bernardino
Counties recently awarded
$10,000 to help fund the fine
arts program at Morning
Sky Residential Program
and Day School.
Thanks to foundation
funding, Morning Sky students
will learn photography,
music and art — areas that
increase student self-esteem.
Student work will culminate
in a Fine Arts Exposition
that will include a musical
performance, and a display
of art and photography.
“Because our boys are
on campus 24 hours a day,
seven days a week, Morning
Sky must meet all of their
needs, and that includes
Daniel Fiddler
opportunities for self-expression
as well as constructive
ways to use their free time,”
said Director Tony Applegarth.
“Photography, music
and art are perfect outlets
for our students. Because
of this grant, we can offer
them more in the way of
instruction, equipment and
supplies. This is an important
area for our boys and
we are very grateful for this
support.”
Applegarth also said
Morning Sky will approach
local institutions such as
Riverside Community College
and UC Riverside, for
example, to invite guest artists,
photography instructors
and musicians.
