Between Pomona and Thrall—Watch for falling rocks<br />

between MP 99.0 and MP 120.0.<br />

At Pomona, when setting out bad order cars, spot to dock<br />

track 706.<br />

Ellensburg—When setting out B/O cars, spot to yellow<br />

jacking pads on west end <strong>of</strong> Track 739.<br />

Naches Line—At <strong>the</strong> Yakima Valley Trolley Association<br />

crossing diamond, BNSF crews must stop and whistle GCOR<br />

5.8.2(3) before fouling crossing.<br />

Moxee City Line—At Yakima, all trains, engines and on-track<br />

vehicles operating on <strong>the</strong> Moxee City main line, be prepared to<br />

stop and open gates that will be closed and locked across <strong>the</strong><br />

track within <strong>the</strong> fenced compound <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Boise Cascade Corp.<br />

These gates will have a red stop sign prominently displayed<br />

against all main line movement. Gates are secured with BNSF<br />

switch locks and after <strong>the</strong>y are opened, it must be ascertained<br />

that gates are properly secured in <strong>the</strong> open position before<br />

proceeding.<br />

The two gates are located at MP 1.1 (8th St.) and MP 1.5 (I-82<br />

overpass). If <strong>the</strong>y are found open during business hours, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

may be left open after passing. If <strong>the</strong>y are closed and locked,<br />

<strong>the</strong>y must be closed and locked behind.<br />

Close Clearance—Both <strong>the</strong> saw and plywood side chip tracks<br />

will not clear a person on <strong>the</strong> side <strong>of</strong> a car.<br />

Highway Grade Crossing Warning Systems—Each train<br />

must stop before entering <strong>the</strong> following crossings and permit a<br />

crew member to dismount to flag highway traffic to a stop. The<br />

locomotive may <strong>the</strong>n proceed through <strong>the</strong> crossing, and <strong>the</strong><br />

flagging crew member may reboard <strong>the</strong> locomotive before <strong>the</strong><br />

remainder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> train proceeds through <strong>the</strong> crossing.<br />

Slide Fence Indicators—Slide fences located at MP 30.9, MP<br />

35.9 and MP 106.5 are equipped with radio readout equipment.<br />

At <strong>the</strong>se locations, trains will activate a radio response when<br />

passing a sign reading “Approaching Slide Fence Detector.”<br />

If a message stating “NO DEFECTS” is received, trains may<br />

proceed at prescribed speed.<br />

System Special Instructions Item 8(K) Slide Detectors applies.<br />

High Load Detector—A high load/dragging equipment<br />

detector is located at MP 124.2. When a defect is detected, a<br />

radio broadcast message will identify <strong>the</strong> high wide and/or<br />

defect equipment by axle count after <strong>the</strong> entire train has<br />

passed <strong>the</strong> circuit. It will be <strong>the</strong> responsibility <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> inbound<br />

crew to inspect and set out <strong>the</strong> oversize and/or defective car<br />

unless that crew is relieved <strong>of</strong> that responsibility by <strong>the</strong><br />

dispatcher. If <strong>the</strong> dispatcher relieves <strong>the</strong> inbound crew <strong>of</strong> that<br />

responsibility, <strong>the</strong> dispatcher assumes <strong>the</strong> responsibility to<br />

arrange for <strong>the</strong> inspection and set out <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> oversize and/or<br />

defective car.<br />
