Association Manager’s response: This is a
first for us. We have never heard of the company
losing a book of business. Changing offices
has nothing to do with the agent number
on the accounts. Moreover, going back to
your month-by-month agent compensation
statements would reveal all your policies
from prior years, which you could then use
to determine which policies have fallen off
subsequent statements, making it easy to
check the policy status to see if they are still
in force. Allstate has an entire department
dedicated to agent compensation issues. Did
you ever put in an inquiry on any of the
policies you felt they had lost
Not knowing the size of your book, or the
approximate financial loss involved, your
recovery of the money through a lawsuit
would probably cost more than the loss. I
suggest you proceed by requesting copies of
your compensation statements beginning
one year before you moved and continuing
through the end of your contract. This will
help determine if your agent number was
inadvertently removed.
