Introduction<br />

The <strong>Malaysian</strong> Rubber Board is organising the 3rd National Rubber Economic<br />

Conference (NREC) <strong>2013</strong> from 23 - 24 October <strong>2013</strong> in Kuala Lumpur. Themed “Rubber<br />

Industry at the Crossroads: Blazing New Trails”, NREC <strong>2013</strong> would be held in<br />

conjunction with the Malaysia Inter<strong>national</strong> Commodity Conference & Showcase<br />

(MICCOS) <strong>2013</strong>. MICCOS is a premier event on <strong>Malaysian</strong> commodities that brings<br />

together major industry players and entrepreneurs in the commodities s<strong>ec</strong>tor. The<br />

Conference is followed by a half day tour to MICCOS <strong>2013</strong>, which will be held at the<br />

Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS), Selangor.<br />

NREC will provide a platform for the exchange of information and knowledge sharing of<br />

t<strong>ec</strong>hnologies, views on the <strong><strong>ec</strong>onomic</strong> situation including price trend. Apart from these,<br />

MRB would be discussing the One Nation Rubber Strategy that will revolutionise the<br />

industry to be sustainable and attractive for investors. Several key players, local and<br />

abroad will present papers related to policies, downstream t<strong>ec</strong>hnologies, market outlook<br />

and trends as well as the new m<strong>ec</strong>hanisation system for tapping.<br />
