The Renaissance Refectory and Vitruvian Café<br />

Opened in 2011, Renaissance and Vitruvian are the <strong>College</strong>’s<br />

new food outlets, offering students a wide choice and variety,<br />

ranging from healthy light snacks to substantial meals, freshly<br />

filled rolls, wraps and sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and<br />

home-made cakes. Renaissance forms part of the Nexus<br />

complex, while the Vitruvian Café can be found in the<br />

Leonardo Building.<br />

The Leonardo Building<br />

Home to our Engineering, Art, Media and Publishing faculties,<br />

the Leonardo Building incorporates specialist areas, including<br />

workshops, dark rooms, studios and exhibition areas.<br />

Main Hall and Holcote House<br />

<strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong> has an excellent reputation for Performing Arts.<br />

Drama, dance and music events take place regularly throughout<br />

the year in both the Main Hall and Holcote House performance<br />

venues. Both locations are equipped with stage, PA and lighting,<br />

offering students the opportunity to perform in a professionalstyle<br />

setting.<br />

The Learning Centre<br />

Designed to support different learner needs, the Learning<br />

Centre is equipped with a comprehensive selection of<br />

up-to-date resources including books, ebooks, journals, online<br />

subscriptions, WiFi and over 120 PCs. Students are supported<br />

by knowledgeable Learning Resource Advisors, who can help<br />

in finding resources and accessing the computers.<br />

Fifth Floor Science Centre<br />

The Fifth Floor Science Centre is an outstanding open-plan<br />

laboratory suite with computer access, supporting Science<br />

teaching and learning for the 21st Century. Its unique design<br />

has prompted visits from other colleges and it provides a<br />

working atmosphere where Science can be enjoyed.<br />

Advanced Engineering Facilities<br />

<strong>Our</strong> extensive Engineering workshops, advanced machine<br />

tools and modern engineering facilities enable us to deliver<br />

a wide range of advanced Engineering courses including key<br />

areas of CNC Machining, Composites, CAD, CAM, Rapid<br />

Prototyping and Process Control.<br />

Fitness Centre<br />

The Fitness Centre provides a full range of aerobic and<br />

resistance equipment, including an extensive free weights<br />

area. All equipment is Inclusive Fitness Initiative accredited<br />

and suitable for disabled sports persons. The adjoining multipurpose<br />

Sports Hall is available for public hire. Students can<br />

use the sports facilities to enhance their learning experience<br />

and take part in community sport. Inductions are free and<br />

specific gym programmes are also available free of charge as<br />

well as lifestyle and nutritional advice.<br />

A Level Academy<br />

The A Level Academy is an exciting new<br />

development at <strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s Mudford Road<br />

campus. Designed with the specific needs of<br />

A Level students in mind, the £1.1 million Academy<br />

aims to foster a culture of academic ambition and<br />

achievement and offers a modern and inspirational<br />

environment like no other available locally.<br />

Facilities<br />

Because the Academy has been designed specifically with<br />

A Level students in mind, it incorporates spaces which reflect<br />

and serve their particular needs.<br />

As well as incorporating our existing open plan Science labs, the<br />

Academy offers a suite of high quality teaching environments<br />

equipped with up-to-date audio-visual and interactive technology.<br />

The Academy also has social and relaxation areas where students<br />

can wind down between classes.<br />

The A Level Academy Learning Centre<br />

The A Level Academy also includes its very own Learning Centre.<br />

It has been specifically designed to have an academic feel to help<br />

prepare students for higher level study and a future in<br />

the workplace.<br />

The Centre offers a wide range of A Level-Specific online resources<br />

and ebooks as well as more traditional resources such as<br />

textbooks and DVDs. This is complemented by a comprehensive<br />

research skills package developed and tailored especially for<br />

<strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong> A Level students. The Learning Centre staff have<br />

strong links with lecturers so that they can ensure all the resources<br />

needed for A Level courses are up-to-date and highly relevant.<br />

The Centre includes formal and informal areas for supported or<br />

independent study, as well as group working zones. The design and<br />

technical infrastructure actively encourages students to use their<br />

own laptops, smart phones and tablet PCs for study, making the<br />

A Level Academy a genuinely innovative, modern study environment.<br />

Staff<br />

<strong>Our</strong> A Level students are supported by a team of academic staff<br />

who have a unique understanding of how to help them fulfil their<br />

potential and get the most from their <strong>time</strong> at <strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />

In addition, the Learning Centre is staffed every day during term<br />

<strong>time</strong> in order to give students individual support for research,<br />

writing assignments and referencing skills.<br />

Studying at the A Level Academy<br />

in mind. It is a modern, welcoming, stimulating, inspiring and<br />
