The Review Committee will evaluate transcripts based<br />

on curriculum, courses taken, grade point average, and<br />

class rank. As stated above, the Admissions Committee<br />

reserves the right to request additional information or<br />

to require a personal interview. Interviews may be<br />

conducted over the telephone or in person.<br />

Bachelor of Arts Programs<br />

Students wishing to enroll or transfer into in NECI’s<br />

upper-division Bachelor of Arts programs in Food and<br />

Beverage Business Management or <strong>Culinary</strong> Arts are<br />

expected to have appropriate culinary and food service<br />

industry knowledge. Appropriate culinary and industry<br />

knowledge is assessed through a review of practical<br />

work experience, prior education and interviews. It is<br />

recommended that students submit a resume with their<br />

application materials.<br />

Online Bachelor of Arts Programs<br />

Students wishing to enroll in NECI’s online, upperdivision<br />

Bachelor of Arts programs in <strong>Culinary</strong> Arts<br />

and Food and Beverage Business Management should<br />

refer to NECI.edu. Since these programs do not include<br />

an internship requirement students will be required – as<br />

a condition of admission to the program – to be<br />

actively employed or have appropriate work<br />

experience in an industry-related position. A current<br />

resume must be submitted with the application.<br />

In addition to the admissions requirements listed<br />

below, students applying to this program must have<br />

access to adequate resources. Please refer to the<br />

Computer Requirements section of the Student<br />

Handbook or the information is also available online<br />

at NECI.edu.<br />

Financial Aid<br />

<strong>New</strong> <strong>England</strong> <strong>Culinary</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> has a range of loan and<br />

scholarship opportunities for students with<br />

demonstrable financial need. The Admissions<br />

department can provide applicants with information<br />

about scholarships, sponsorships and employment<br />

opportunities while attending school. No applicant<br />

should hesitate to apply for admission because of<br />

financial circumstances alone.<br />

Eligibility for financial aid will be determined from<br />

information provided by the student on the Free<br />

Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).<br />

Application forms for financial aid and complete<br />

instructions are available from the Admissions<br />

department.<br />

Because of the ongoing changes in federal legislation,<br />

NECI does not include financial aid details in this<br />

State Aid: NECI is certified by the Vermont State<br />

Board of Education as a bona fide institution of higher<br />

learning. Instate students may apply for financial aid<br />

made available by the state.<br />

Veterans’ Educational Benefits: All degree and<br />

certificate programs at NECI are approved by the<br />

Vermont State Approving Agency for veteran<br />

educational benefits. For eligibility determination,<br />

contact your local Veterans Administration Regional<br />

Transcripts and Records<br />

Contact the schools you have listed on your application<br />

(high school, vocational school, college) and ask that<br />

official transcripts of your grades/credentials earned be<br />
