We would wish to reiterate how important it is to stress that, although the pattern can be given to Rothwell, other engravers and even apprentices would have used his template patterns and to follow his style, which means that giving an absolute personal attribution to Thomas Rothwell is not as easy as it may seem; this was, of course, true of painting, where the master’s studio would employ apprentices to work in the master’s style thus causing attribution problems for art historians even today! *Steve Bartrick Antique Prints and Maps. *www,worcesterporcelainmuseum.org.uk 62
