The Test Automation Center of Excellence is chartered as a matrix organization to provide staffing, centralized automated testing solutions, and a knowledge base for use across corporate programs and projects. The goal: to improve test quality and streamline the timelines associated with testing in the system development life cycle. The Center’s expertise includes test planning, test preparation, test automation, test execution, test status accounting and reporting, requirements analysis and defect management. Center staff specialize in using Mercury Interactive’s Quality Center and Performance Center enterprise software to provide consulting services and support for CSC’s clients and lines of business; conducting performance testing and test script automation using Mercury’s QuickTest Professional, WinRunner, XRunner and LoadRunner products; and showcasing CSC’s test automation capabilities for current and potential clients. Center staff also specialize in assisting projects in gaining visibility, control and overall operational efficiency using Mercury’s IT Governance software. Center personnel help CSC and client organizations minimize the recurring costs of instantiating and running multiple automated testing solutions for individual programs and projects across the enterprise. Organizations can implement centralized solutions that are customized according to corporate or programmatic standards and guidelines, leveraging CSC’s global alliance with Mercury. Test automation tools promise significant benefits to those organizations that can effectively use them. To this end, organizations can leverage the expertise of the Center, which positions CSC as a world-class test automation systems integrator. The Center leverages CSC’s alliance with Mercury Interactive and is strategically involved with the development and deployment of Mercury’s products. Center staff carry certification from the International Information Systems Examinations Board, Foundation Certification in Software Testing. The Center has a proven track record for providing technical leadership and customer satisfaction. Its staff has received the NASA Space Flight Awareness Award and was nominated for the 2003 NASA Programs Business Area Excellence Award in Process Improvement. Center staff have been involved with test automation activities on several contracts for over 13 years. Staff have presented at Mercury User Group conferences, the Software Testing Forum for the National Capitol Area, and CSC’s Technology and Business Solutions conference. 16 The Test Automation Center of Excellence has established an Enforcement, Security and Intelligence (ESI) Test Automation lab. This lab supports performance and test automation for CSC’s next-generation enterprise portal. It is also available to support CSC corporate projects. The lab includes research and development and proof-of-concept work for test automation efforts, providing CSC staff hands-on access to test automation tools along with centralized knowledge to support these activities.
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR: Training For over 25 years, the Training Center of Excellence has been meeting the needs of government and commercial clients to create and sustain human capabilities in the workspace. The Center assists organizations in maximizing the abilities of their people by assessing performance requirements and then leveraging leading practice methodologies and technologies to design, develop and implement effective solutions. With more than 200 full-time professionals, the Center produces a full range of human performance solutions. At one end of the spectrum, it supports senior executives in developing strategies and solutions that keep the workforce trained and aligned with the goals of their organizations. At the other end, the Center develops and integrates the components required to make these strategies work. Center facilities include an audio studio, classrooms, research labs, audiovisual conference rooms, and a Special Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) for classified projects. The Center was one of the first ISO 9001:2000 certified custom training product organizations in the world. Its Content Management System, Utopia 2000, is a Web-based content authoring and conversion system that enables developers and subject matter experts to work together remotely, using only a Web browser, to produce training that conforms to the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and complies with Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. The Center’s Collaborative Document Development System provides a consistent, standardized methodology for program document development and review. It is a suite of software and business applications that enables organizations to develop and deliver critical information rapidly using the Collaborative Writing Environment, a Web-based collaborative enterprise application. The Center also has a state-of-the-art document conversion facility, providing conversion services for technical manuals, catalogs, administrative documents, training manuals, training courseware, photographs, maps, graphical materials and advertising materials.
