Dear Parent/Guardian,
I would like to take this opportunity to remind Year 12 Students and parents of
some important dates to make note of relating to the Sixth Form.
Year 12 students taking AS exams will attend school as normal; staff will be
delivering lessons and revision sessions will continue as scheduled. Year 12
students will not have study leave. A2 Level courses will begin as soon as
students have completed AS courses and their AS examinations.
Year 12 students on a one year BTEC programme will follow their normal BTEC lesson
timetable until they have completed their portfolios and examinations. Their final date
is Wednesday 22nd June 2011, although some courses may finish earlier than this and
so students may finish before this date.
For students who will not be continuing at Sir William Ramsay School in the Sixth Form
next year, students are asked to return all books and resources that have been
borrowed to Mrs Hallam in the LRC as soon as they have completed their course and
after their final examination date. If for some reason students are not able to return any
borrowed items after their last exam then they are asked to return them no later than
Friday 1 st July. All students are required to return all books, equipment and resources
they have borrowed for each subject. Furthermore, we will need written notification
that students will not be continuing their studies in the Sixth Form to ensure that all
examinations are ‘cashed-in’.
Further to this the Year 12 students will be taking part in the school Arts and
Activities week from Monday 27 th June until Thursday 30 th June 2011.
During this week all Year 12 students must register as usual in the morning so
that they can receive all relevant information for each day’s activities.
On Friday 1st July 2011 there will be a trip to Brighton. We are planning on
departing from the school at 9am and will return at approximately 6pm, traffic
permitting. Please note students are not to enter or paddle in the sea at any time
during the day.

During Arts and Activities week some students will be developing their curriculum
knowledge with the Media, Arts and Performing Arts Departments.
Finally, the new term begins on Wednesday 7 th September 2011 at 8.30 am.
