April 2011Dear Parents/GuardiansWe are planning a Year 10 Pastoral trip to Thorpe Park on Wednesday 20July. As a member of Year 10 your son/daughter is invited to attend. We are planning to leave school at 9.00 am and to return at approx 6.15 pm,traffic conditions permitting. Therefore revised arrangements with buses andtaxis will have to be made for your child.Students will require either a packed lunch or pocket money to buy food at thepark. Any money taken will be solely the student’s responsibility. Studentsare not to bring any electronic devices or phones because of the risk of loss, theft or damage.Whilst school uniform is not required, students are expected to dress sensiblyand to be mindful of the weather (i.e. raincoats/sunscreen, sensible shoes, hats and plenty of water). In order to cover the costs of the trip including admission and coach travel, weare asking for a voluntary contribution of £25.00. If there are insufficientcontributions, or insufficient students wish to attend, the trip may have to becancelled. It is hoped that as it is a Year 10 event the majority of students willbe able to attend. However, due to the seating capacity of the buses and tokeep costs to a minimum, there are a limited number of spaces and places willbe allocated on a first come first served basis. If a concern is raised about your son/daughter’s behaviour before thetrip, the school reserves the right to withdraw them from attending thetrip and costs incurred by the school will not be refunded. The coach is fitted with seatbelts and students are expected to wear them.I would be grateful if you could complete the reply slip and attached medicalform and return them to Reception by Friday 20 May at the latest.Yours sincerelyMrs M DoranLearning Leader – Upper School
