Dear Parent/Guardian
We would like to offer your son/daughter the opportunity to enhance and broaden his/her
experience of science beyond the classroom; therefore, we will be taking a group of Year 7
students to the Science Museum on Friday, 18 th March 2011. As part of this visit
students will see Hubble 3D (PG) at the IMAX Cinema, together with a dynamic show
entitled ‘It Takes Guts’, which looks at food groups, balanced diets and digestion by
following the journey of food through the human body. Students will also have the chance
to visit the Object-rich Gallery exhibition ‘Who Am I?’ which invites students to explore the
science of who they are through intriguing objects, provocative artworks and hands-on
exhibits. We will also visit Launchpad; the Science Museum's most popular hands-on
gallery.
We will leave school promptly at 8.50 am and aim to return to school by 4.30 pm.
Students will be transported by coach; the coach is fitted with seatbelts and students will
be expected to wear them. Students will need to bring a packed lunch and will be required
to wear full school uniform.
In order to finance this trip, it will be necessary to ask for a contribution of £18.00 per
student (please make cheques payable to Sir William Ramsay School), to cover some of
the expenses incurred by the school. However, it will not be possible to run this trip if
there are insufficient contributions from parents/guardians. N.B. Places will be
allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students are reminded that they will be representing the school and that good behaviour
and courtesy is expected from all who attend. Should you have any concerns about the
