CONTRIBUTORS<br />

Adem Kassie Abebe started his academic career at the University of<br />

Haramaya, Ethiopia, as an Assistant Lecturer <strong>in</strong> September 2007. Dr<br />

Abebe holds an LLM <strong>in</strong> Human Rights <strong>and</strong> Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong><br />

from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, SA. In 2012 he<br />

completed a Doctor of Laws at the University of Pretoria. He is the<br />

Ethiopian Country Reporter to the ‘Oxford Constitutions Onl<strong>in</strong>e’ Project.<br />

Dr Abebe has worked as a research fellow at the Centre for <strong>Governance</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> Human Rights, University of Cambridge, as well as at the Max Planck<br />

Institute for Comparative Public Law <strong>and</strong> International Law, Heidelberg,<br />

Germany. He has also been <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> several projects at the Centre for<br />

Human Rights, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>Africa</strong>n Human Rights Moot Court<br />

Competition <strong>and</strong> the Access to Information Law <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong> projects. He has<br />

published <strong>in</strong> reputable peer-reviewed journals <strong>in</strong> Europe, the USA, South<br />

<strong>Africa</strong> <strong>and</strong> Ethiopia. He is currently a post-doctorate fellow at the Centre<br />

for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. His areas of <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong>clude<br />

comparative constitutional law <strong>and</strong> human rights <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>.<br />

Ademola Oluborode Jegede received an LLB from the Obafemi<br />

Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria <strong>in</strong> 1997 <strong>and</strong> was admitted to the<br />

Nigerian Bar <strong>in</strong> 1999. He holds a degree of Masters of Public Health<br />

(MPH) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria <strong>and</strong> an LLM (Human<br />

Rights <strong>and</strong> Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>) from the Centre for Human Rights,<br />

University of Pretoria. Mr Ademola has extensive experience <strong>in</strong> research<br />

<strong>and</strong> practice <strong>in</strong> diverse areas of human rights <strong>and</strong> security. S<strong>in</strong>ce 1999, <strong>in</strong><br />

addition to serv<strong>in</strong>g as a legal researcher at the United Nations<br />

International Crim<strong>in</strong>al Tribunal for Rw<strong>and</strong>a <strong>and</strong> as an <strong>in</strong>tern with the<br />

Refugee Law Project <strong>in</strong> Ug<strong>and</strong>a, he has worked <strong>in</strong> a consultative <strong>and</strong><br />

advisory capacity with NGOs (national <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational), <strong>in</strong>tergovernmental<br />

<strong>and</strong> governmental <strong>in</strong>stitutions focus<strong>in</strong>g particularly on how<br />

these fields are shaped by governance <strong>and</strong> accountability mechanisms. He<br />

has published papers <strong>in</strong> this area. Mr Ademola is a w<strong>in</strong>ner of the Keba<br />

M'baye Prize for the best dissertation <strong>in</strong> the LLM (Human Rights &<br />

Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>) <strong>and</strong> a fellow of Salzburg Global Sem<strong>in</strong>ar,<br />

Austria.<br />

Benedict Maige Nchalla holds the degrees LLM (Cambridge, UK),<br />

LLM Human Rights <strong>and</strong> Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong> (Pretoria, SA), LLB<br />

(Hons) (Tuma<strong>in</strong>i, TZ). He is a lecturer <strong>in</strong> law <strong>and</strong> Head, Constitutional<br />

<strong>and</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istrative Law Department, at Makumira University College of<br />

Tuma<strong>in</strong>i University <strong>in</strong> Tanzania. He is also a legal consultant attached to<br />

Maruma <strong>and</strong> Co Advocates, Arusha Chambers.<br />

Bonolo Ramadi D<strong>in</strong>okopila graduated with an LLB from the<br />

University of Botswana <strong>and</strong> has been admitted as attorney of the courts of<br />

Botswana. He holds the degree LLM (cum laude) from the Human Rights<br />

<strong>and</strong> Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong> University of Pretoria, SA. He is currently<br />

a doctoral c<strong>and</strong>idate with the University of Pretoria <strong>and</strong> a Lecturer <strong>in</strong> the<br />

Department of Law, University of Botswana, where he teaches, among<br />

other subjects, constitutional law, customary law, gender <strong>and</strong> the law <strong>and</strong><br />
