international criminal law. Mr Weldehaimanot has published in the
African Human Rights Law Journal; Journal of African Law; University of Peace
Law Review; Journal of African and International Law, African Journal of
International and Comparative Law, East African Journal of Peace and Human
Rights, Review of African Political Economy, Australian Indigenous Law Review,
SUR Journal of International Law and the Eritrean Law Society Occasional
Papers. He has extensive work experience, having worked as a legal adviser
in Eritrea, researcher in different NGOs, an intern at the International
Criminal Court and a TMF Human Rights Fellow of Columbia
University, USA. Currently, Mr Weldehaimanot is an adjunct faculty
member at The Women’s College of the University of Denver, USA,
where he teaches courses in law and society.
Tom Ojienda, an Associate Professor at the Moi University School of
Law, Kenya holds an LLB degree from the University of Nairobi, Kenya,
an LLM degree from Kings College, London, UK and an LLD from
UNISA. A chevening legal scholar, Professor Ojienda is an experienced
litigation lawyer with competencies in the areas of land law, constitutional
law, environmental law, gender, human rights and international law. He
currently serves as a Commissioner with the Kenyan Truth, Justice and
Reconciliation Commission. He has served as the President of the East
Africa law Society, the Chairman of the Law Society of Kenya, the Vice-
President of the Pan African Lawyers Union and as a member of the
Council of the International Bar Association. In 2009 he was appointed to
the Eminent Panel of International Lawyers to study the legal system in
the Democratic Republic of Congo and make recommendations on good
governance. He also served as SUR Focal Point for East Africa. He has
served as the Chairman of the Land Acquisition Compensation Tribunal
(LACT), a member of the National Environment Tribunal (NET) and the
Legal and Technical Committee of the National Land Policy Formulation
Process. Besides several articles in refereed journals, he has authored
several books. Professor Ojienda has served as a consultant for the Njonjo
Commission on inquiring into the land system in Kenya, the Ndungu
Commission on illegal and irregular allotment of land, National Task
Force on HIV/AIDS, the World Bank, ACCORD, USAID, East African
Community and the SADC. He has also served a Board Member of the
American Biographical Institute, the Council of Legal Education and the
Kenya Industrial Property Institute.
