the South <strong>Africa</strong>n Law Reform Commission (Project 25: M<strong>in</strong>erals &<br />
Energy Affairs). An <strong>in</strong>quisitive scholar, Professor Olowu has participated<br />
<strong>in</strong> various learned conferences connected with his teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> research<br />
<strong>in</strong>terests around the world. He has also authored some 100 learned<br />
publications through reputable legal <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary outlets <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>,<br />
the Americas, Asia, Europe, <strong>and</strong> Oceania. The South <strong>Africa</strong>n National<br />
Research Foundation (NRF) currently rates Professor Olowu an<br />
‘Established Researcher’ for his <strong>in</strong>terdiscipl<strong>in</strong>ary work (2009-2014). In<br />
recognition of his keen research acumen, Professor Olowu serves on the<br />
Academy of Science South <strong>Africa</strong> (ASSAf)’s Peer Review Panel for<br />
Scholarly Journals <strong>in</strong> the Law <strong>and</strong> Related Fields.<br />
Diala Anthony Chima is on the teach<strong>in</strong>g staff of Madonna University,<br />
Okija, Nigeria. An advocate of Nigeria’s Supreme Court, he holds law<br />
degrees from Enugu State University <strong>and</strong> the Nigerian Law School, a<br />
Diploma <strong>in</strong> French from Makerere University, Ug<strong>and</strong>a, <strong>and</strong> an LLM <strong>in</strong><br />
Human Rights <strong>and</strong> Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong> from the University of<br />
Pretoria, SA. Mr Diala has worked <strong>in</strong> the International Crim<strong>in</strong>al Court,<br />
the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative, Ug<strong>and</strong>a, the International<br />
Crim<strong>in</strong>al Tribunal for Rw<strong>and</strong>a, <strong>and</strong> the Justice <strong>and</strong> Peace Commission,<br />
Ekiti, Nigeria. His research <strong>in</strong>terests are <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational law, human<br />
rights, <strong>and</strong> good governance.<br />
Horace Sègnonna Adjolohoun is currently a Doctoral C<strong>and</strong>idate <strong>and</strong><br />
Researcher at the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of<br />
Pretoria, where he also completed a Master of Laws (LLM) Human Rights<br />
<strong>and</strong> Democratisation <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>. Prior to study<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> South <strong>Africa</strong>, he<br />
received a BA <strong>in</strong> Public Adm<strong>in</strong>istration <strong>and</strong> Law from the National School<br />
of Adm<strong>in</strong>istration <strong>and</strong> Judicial Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> a Licence <strong>in</strong> Law from the<br />
Université d’Abomey-Calavi <strong>and</strong> Université de Sciences Appliquées et de<br />
Management <strong>in</strong> Ben<strong>in</strong>. Before jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the Centre, Mr Adjolohoun worked<br />
as Programme Officer with the International Foundation for Electoral<br />
Systems, <strong>and</strong> the Francophone <strong>Africa</strong> Supreme Courts Association. He<br />
also worked with the United Nations’ Office of the High Commissioner for<br />
Human Rights <strong>and</strong> has consulted with various organisations <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>in</strong>stitutions such as the International Commission of Jurists, the<br />
ECOWAS Court of Justice, Global Rights Nigeria, <strong>and</strong> the Media<br />
Foundation for West <strong>Africa</strong>. Mr Adjolohoun was also <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> human<br />
rights litigation <strong>in</strong> the ECOWAS Court of Justice. He has contributed to<br />
academic research through publications <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g books, books chapters<br />
<strong>and</strong> commentaries, <strong>and</strong> presented papers at several <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
conferences. His areas of expertise <strong>in</strong>clude the judicial <strong>and</strong> constitutional<br />
protection of human rights, human rights <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>n regional <strong>in</strong>tegration,<br />
the application <strong>and</strong> litigation of human rights <strong>in</strong> domestic courts, human<br />
rights litigation <strong>in</strong> regional courts, state compliance, the impact of<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational law on domestic systems, <strong>and</strong> constitutionalism <strong>in</strong> <strong>Africa</strong>.<br />
Kofi Quashigah is an Associate Professor <strong>in</strong> the Faculty of Law,<br />
University of Ghana <strong>and</strong> Dean of the Faculty. He had his undergraduate<br />
law degree from the University of Ghana <strong>and</strong> his LLM <strong>and</strong> PhD Degrees<br />
from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the<br />
Harvard Human Rights Program between 2001/2002 <strong>and</strong> a McArthur<br />
Foundation Visit<strong>in</strong>g Scholar at the University of Wiscons<strong>in</strong> at Madison,<br />
US <strong>in</strong> 1992. His teach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude Jurisprudence,<br />
