–At this year’s PDA will be the launch of an educational master plan project. Will also include<br />

a guest speaker Rob Johnstone on best practices 101.<br />

–Fall classes will begin August 20. Student Services staff have worked all summer in<br />

preparation, including student ambassadors.<br />

–Introduced Sarah Laggos, new director of the Foundation’s Alumni Relations and Annual<br />

Fund who will reach out to former SRJC students.<br />

C. <strong>Board</strong> Member Comments<br />

–Trustee Burdo congratulated Trustees Edgar, Call and Lindley on their re election to a new<br />

term. These trustees ran unopposed for their seats on the <strong>Board</strong> of Trustees.<br />

–Student Trustee Michelle Dowling gave the following report<br />

•she attended the Associated Students annual retreat, noting the fiscally responsible decision<br />

to condense the trainings and workshops to two days instead of three, that resulted in cost<br />

savings of facility fees and food expenditures.<br />

•she attended the CCLC annual Student Trustee workshop that included legislative update,<br />

information on how community colleges are funded, update on Governor Brown's tax<br />

initiative that will dramatically impact education and public services depending on its passage<br />

during this November's election.<br />

•she attended the CCC Association of Student Trustee's (CCCAST) meeting that focused<br />

primarily on legislative issues including the Middle Class Scholarship Act, AB 1500/AB 1501.<br />

This bill would bring $150 million back to the community college system, yet is controversial<br />

since this amount is based on assumed projections of a closed corporate tax loophole, and is<br />

not guaranteed in the text of the bill.<br />

•she looks forward to participating on the Student Success Task Force: Increasing Student<br />

Completion Panel during PDA day.<br />

A. OUT-OF-COUNTRY TRAVEL TO SWEDEN<br />

Approved the out-of-country travel to Borås, Sweden for Lisa Beach, adjunct faculty in the<br />

Computer Studies Department, from September 7-22, 2012 to meet with instructors and<br />

students from the Swedish Student Project, at no cost to the District.<br />

B. INSTRUCTOR LOAD REPORTS FOR SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL 2012<br />

Approved the final Spring 2012 Instructor Load Report, changes to the Summer 2012<br />

Instructor Load Report since the July meeting, and an initial Fall 2012 Instructor Load
