HANCOCK COUNTY EMERGENCY PLAN<br />

(1) Select the appropriate EAS message based upon the<br />

protective action.<br />

(2) Receive from WVDHSEM the coordinated recommendation<br />

on implementation <strong>of</strong> protective action including:<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

(c)<br />

The specific protective action recommended.<br />

The area affected by implementation.<br />

The date and time <strong>of</strong> implementation.<br />

(3) Ensure that selected EAS messages are consistent with the<br />

protective action being implemented.<br />

(4) Activate the CityWatch Alert System (See Annex P, Appendice<br />

3).<br />

(5) Coordinate with the Fire Services Officer for the dispatch <strong>of</strong><br />

Route Alerting Teams in conjunction with siren activation.<br />

(6) Activate the sirens within the designated protective response<br />

area upon the direction <strong>of</strong> the Emergency Services Director or<br />

his designee.<br />

(7) Coordinate with the County Sheriff for backup support to fire<br />

personnel in providing additional alert/notification coverage<br />

(if needed).<br />

(8) Verify coverage and completion <strong>of</strong> public alert/notification.<br />

(9) Update EAS messages and public alert/notification as<br />

appropriate.<br />

(10) Repeat the appropriate steps <strong>of</strong> the above procedure upon<br />

receipt <strong>of</strong> an additional protective action decision.<br />

i. Maintain Site Area Emergency Status until emergency level<br />

escalation or reduction or closeout.<br />
