HANCOCK COUNTY EMERGENCY PLAN
(1) Select the appropriate EAS message based upon the
protective action.
(2) Receive from WVDHSEM the coordinated recommendation
on implementation of protective action including:
(a)
(b)
(c)
The specific protective action recommended.
The area affected by implementation.
The date and time of implementation.
(3) Ensure that selected EAS messages are consistent with the
protective action being implemented.
(4) Activate the CityWatch Alert System (See Annex P, Appendice
3).
(5) Coordinate with the Fire Services Officer for the dispatch of
Route Alerting Teams in conjunction with siren activation.
(6) Activate the sirens within the designated protective response
area upon the direction of the Emergency Services Director or
his designee.
(7) Coordinate with the County Sheriff for backup support to fire
personnel in providing additional alert/notification coverage
(if needed).
(8) Verify coverage and completion of public alert/notification.
(9) Update EAS messages and public alert/notification as
appropriate.
(10) Repeat the appropriate steps of the above procedure upon
receipt of an additional protective action decision.
i. Maintain Site Area Emergency Status until emergency level
escalation or reduction or closeout.
