Portmap Service Portmap Service The eTrust Audit Portmap service, portmap.exe, manages a table of correspondences between ports (logical communications channels) and the services registered at them. It provides a standard way for a client to look up the TCP/IP or UDP port number of an RPC program supported by the server. This service runs on any Windows host on which an eTrust Audit component is installed. Note: For Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, note that eTrust Audit installs the Sun RPC portmapper. Syntax Using a command prompt session, enter the following commands to start or stop portmap: net start portmap net stop portmap To install portmap, use the following commands: install_dir\bin\inst_pm install_dir\bin\portmap.exe where install_dir is the directory where you installed eTrust Audit. To uninstall portmap, use the following command: install_dir\bin\inst_pm remove 2–12 Reference Guide
