Summary of the Economic Impact of Documentary
Production in Canada, 2010/11
Despite the declines occurring in Canadian documentary production volume and hours, this
industry segment continues to represent a vital sector in the Canadian film and television
production industry. Through both direct and spin-off employment totaling 12,100 jobs,
the documentary production sector in Canada contributed $625 million to Gross Domestic
