Check for erosion at the outlet point and check the pipe for breaks or clogs. Install additional<br />

outlet protection if needed and immediately repair the breaks and clean any clogs.<br />

Do not allow construction traffic to cross the pipe slope drain and do not place any material<br />

on it.<br />

If a sediment trap has been provided, it shall be cleaned out when the sediment level reaches<br />

1/3 the design volume.<br />

The pipe slope drain shall remain in place until the slope has been completely stabilized or up<br />

to 30 days after permanent slope stabilization.<br />

11.4.13 Impact Stilling Basin<br />

Impact stilling basins are concrete structures placed at the outlets of culverts and storm sewer<br />

pipes with calculated exit velocities greater than 15 feet per second. The purpose of an impact<br />

stilling basin is to dissipate energy at a high velocity outlet to protect the receiving channel.<br />

Design Criteria<br />

Impact stilling basins shall be designed in accordance with LFUCG Division of Engineering<br />

Standard Drawings.<br />
