Students may appeal their loss based on mitigating circumstances (documented serious illness, immediate family member death, etc.), which must be appropriately documented when submitted to the Financial Aid Office. F. Reinstatement: A student’s aid may be reinstated if grades in a particular academic period bring his or her cumulative GPA into SAP. It is the student’s responsibility to work closely with the Financial Aid Office on his or her intent to reapply for lost aid and to submit new applications as necessary. A student should recognize that applications for aid must be submitted prior to deadlines imposed by the Department of Education, including submission prior to graduation or withdrawal. Therefore, a student should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid each year regardless of whether the student is making Satisfactory Academic Progress. G. Mitigating Circumstance: Mitigating circumstances (documented serious illness, death in immediate family, etc.) may be considered in a student’s situation.
