Chapter 1. Introduction
Purpose
Pest status
Use New Pest Response Guidelines: Spodoptera as a guide when designing a
program to detect, monitor, control, contain, or eradicate an infestation of
spodoptera. If the pest is detected in the U.S., PPQ personnel and state
cooperators will produce a site-specific Action Plan based on this document.
We hope that state personnel and others concerned with developing local
PPQ develops each New Pest Response Guidelines through discussion,
consultation, or agreement with staff at Animal and Plant Health Inspection
Service (APHIS), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), and with university
advisors.
are polyphagous and may utilize new hosts in a new environment. For that
reason, unrecognized species could also prove to be pests, especially if
established in a new environment.
