I hope you all had the opportunity
to enjoy at least one of the performances
at the Manning Entertainment
Centre this week. Some
of you – like me – were fortunate
enough to see both the K-2/3H and
the 3 – 6 show. WOW! Weren’t they
awesome? I’m still buzzing! The
absolute delight on the faces of the
students made all the hard work

I’m so, so proud of the students –
their performances were polished,
they exuded confidence and they
supported and encouraged each
other. While the music, drama and
performance were the keystones of
the production, the ‘life-skills’ gained
are a bonus. Thank you parents and
friends for taking the time to come
and watch – your children love nothing
more than to have you there,
being a part of their special time.
While I’m on thank you’s I really
must give a big ‘shout out’ to
the magnificent staff of Old Bar
School. A production takes many
hours of hard work, great passion
and dedication. We have
it all! YOU ARE WONDERFUL!
Holidays
Yeah! It’s been a busy term. Enjoy
the next two weeks with your
children. We all return to school
on Tuesday 8th – there is NO
Staff Development Day in term 4.

Kinder 2014 Parent
Information Night
I am hoping you have remembered
our Parent Information Meeting
for parents and carers of Kinder
2014 students? If not, don’t worry!
You haven’t missed it. The meeting
will be held on 9th October
from 6pm to 7pm in the school hall.
The meeting will be presented as
a slideshow/powerpoint. This will
allow questions, clarification and
discussion to occur as needed.
Essentially this meeting is for parents
and carers. However, we do
understand that for some parents to
attend, children may need to come
as well. Activities will be provided
for children in order for parent and
carers to focus on the presentation.
If you are not able to attend this
meeting, do not worry! The slideshow
will be on the school website
and the school Facebook page.
This will also allow you to revisit
the presentation in your own time.
We are looking forward to meeting
you on this night.
Please note: If you have a child
starting Kindergarten next year
and you haven’t been to the
school to collect an Application
to Enrol Form, could you please
do so as soon as possible.

Student Invoices
Term 4 sees great changes with new
programs that operate school financial
transactions. With the impending
office program changes the impact
will affect all payments made
to the class teachers and office.
The school seeks your support for
payment of all outstanding student
invoices. This includes, Intensive
Swimming Program, School Contributions,
Stage 2 Kolady music,
recorders and workbooks. We ask
that all outstanding payments be
made by Week 3, Friday 25th October.

A big thank you to all the students,
parents and staff that have supported
us in the lead up to Molly
playing soccer at the National
Championships in Brisbane this
week. Many of you have purchased
raffle tickets and made a donation
on the out of uniform day back in
term 2. We are grateful to be part
of a supportive community and
look forward to watching her represent
our school, community and
state as captain of the NSW team.
Thank you to Mrs Scanes, Mrs
Mahar and Ms Franks for balancing
classroom activities with sporting
events. Special thanks to Mrs
Hinton just for being Mrs Hinton.

Girls Soccer
The Girls Soccer Team Round 6 of
the PSSA Knockouty played against
Caves Beach at TRAD Field, some
children came to watch our game
by bus. It was a tough game with
the score at full-time being nil all.
We went into extra time of 5 minutes
each way and still the score
was nil all. The result of the match
was then decided on the first corner
scored and that was Old Bar.
We now go into the next round and
that will be against Guyra Central
School. This will be the PSSA Quarter
Final for Girls Soccer. All the girls
have worked extremely hard to get to
this level and we would like to thank
our coach Miss Franks and parents
who have encouraged us and assisted
us with transport. Written by:

JUMPING CASTLE!!!
On Friday 11th October at Club Old
Bar the School P&C will be having
a jumping castle for the children –
cost will be a gold coin donation
and there will also be a meat raffle
to keep the parents and carers
entertained! It promises to be a
fun night- so put this date in your
diary and come along. The fun begins
at 5-30pm and the raffle will
be drawn commencing at 6-30pm.
Fundraiser
Womens Retreat For
Domestic Violence
The fundraiser is to support Denise
Lambie, who is opening her home and
property to women in need of help.
It will be held at Club Old
bar on 25th October, 2013.
There are so many women in need
of help that have no place to go and
no one to call. They need direction,
help, and a fresh start to a life without
metal or physical abuse, but they get
scared and put up with it because
it is all they think they are worth.
So this expo is to support Denise
in this most kind journey for
all. There is gold coin donation
at door, raffle tickets with lots of
prizes and the psychics are given
15% out of every reading they do.
So let’s help this cause so there is
some where safe for these women
that can heal and higher there selfesteems
and have their children out
of harm’s way let’s think of our futures.

packed program full of a large variety
of activities including jumping
castles, Big Buzz excursions, a
Magic show and work shop, Bike
days and loads more. Programs
are available from Old Bar Primary
School Office and Beach Hut.

Surf Safety
Throughout the VEGEMITE Surf
Groms program and each of the
5 skill levels, there is a significant
focus on Ocean Awareness and
Beach Safety. Surf conditions, etiquette,
first aid, and basic surf rescue
skills have all been incorporated
into the VEGEMITE SurfGroms
program. Before any VEGEMITE
SurfGrom receives a completion
certificate, they must have successfully
demonstrated all of the
relevant ocean awareness and
beach safety skills for each level.

September’s dress rehearsal. We hope everyone enjoyed the two
nights at the MEC, we certainly enjoyed producing it.
