4.2.2 Basic Characteristics of Disability
The final results of the Census show that the number of people with at least one disability
totaled 51,432, comprising 3.7% of the
population
of the Gaza Strip. The distribution of
disability by type is as follows: 26,168 people suffering from seeing disability (1.9%); 12,687
people suffering from hearing disability (0.9%); 19,828 people suffering from moving
disability (1.4%); 8,388 people suffering from cognition disability (0.6%); and 8,477
suffering from communication disability
(0.6%).
The highest percentage of people with at least one disability is
in Dier al
Balah governorate
with 4.6% of the population while the lowest percentage of people with at
least one disability
is in Gaza governorate with 3. 2%.
