Konstantin Grcic ist einer der führenden Designer unserer Zeit. Seine Arbeit ist geprägt von einer
intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit neuen Materialien und Technologien, aber auch von einem
großen Interesse an Gegenwartskunst und Zukunftsforschung. Manche von Grcics Entwürfen,
etwa der »Chair_One« (2004) oder die Leuchte »Mayday« (1999), gelten bereits heute als
Designklassiker. Mit der Ausstellung »Konstantin Grcic – Future Perfect« organisiert das Vitra
Design Museum die bislang größte Einzelausstellung über Konstantin Grcic. Sie gibt eine umfassende
Übersicht über Grcics Werk und ist zugleich ein eigenes, neues Designprojekt: Speziell für die
Ausstellung entwickelt Grcic raumbildende Installationen, mit denen er seine persönlichen Visionen
für das Leben von morgen inszeniert – nachdenklich fragmentarisch, aber ungemein bildmächtig!
Konstantin Grcic is one of the leading designers of the present day. His work is characterised
by an intensive engagement with new materials and technologies as well as a great interest in
contemporary art and futurological research. Some of Grcic’s designs – such as »Chair_One«
(2004) or the »Mayday« lamp (1999) – have already attained the status of design classics.
The Vitra Design Museum exhibition »Konstantin Grcic – Future Perfect« is the largest solo presentation
of this designer’s work to date. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of Konstantin
Grcic’s oeuvre, the exhibition is also a new design project in its own right. For this show, Grcic
is developing spatial installations that set in scene his personal visions for life in the world of
tomorrow – both pensively fragmentary and powerfully profound.

Konstantin Grcic est l’un des designers contemporains les plus remarquables. Ancré dans l’art
d’aujourd’hui et résolument tourné vers l’avenir, son travail se confronte aux nouveaux matériaux
et aux nouvelles technologies. Certains projets de Grcic, notamment la « Chair_One » (2004) ou la
lampe « Mayday » (1999), sont déjà des classiques du design. Organisée par le Vitra Design Museum,
l’exposition « Konstantin Grcic – Future Perfect » est la plus importante consacrée exclusivement
à l’artiste. Elle présente une vision complète de son œuvre et est elle-même un nouveau projet de
design à part entière. Le designer a intégralement conçu des installations spécifiquement pour
l’exposition, dans lesquels il met en scène sa vision personnelle de la vie de demain – un songe
fragmentaire, mais particulièrement évocateur !
