The tractor operated winnowing fan consists of 3 blades welded to an iron
pipe at one end. The other end is fitted into PTO shaft of the tractor. With this
technology, the problems like labour scarcity, untimely operations,
difficulty in handling large quantity of farm produce and inefficiency of
winnowing by traditional method were addressed and solved. Cost of
operation/day is Rs. 1380/- and net return is Rs.1520/-. Drudgery is also
reduced. It can winnow 100 bags of rice in a day in comparison to traditional
method (4 bags of rice).
Secondly, the manually operated winnowing fan consists of 5 blades using
scrap GI sheets fixed on one end of an iron shaft. The whole set of the
machine is mounted on a stand made of locally available wooden material.
The cost of operation/day is Rs. 240/- and net return is Rs.360/-. It can
winnow 20 bags of rice in a day.
Thirty three farmers have adopted the tractor operated technology from the
district and 8 farmers have adopted the manually operated technology.

by District Agriculture Office, Lower Dibang Valley, AP.
Identified as master trainer by KVK for organizing training on pig
farming.
