Faith more illuminating than afull moon
A few nights ago our big,
round,' glorious full moon
looked in at me Thank
• heaven die blinds had not
been drawn. I admixed our
^ moon till it moved on.
Did if move, or did our
Earth move? Some data it's
only the moon mat moves.
Well, let's not get technical
just how. Lefs leave that to
the astronomers. AU that I
actually know is mat it first
appeared in my left window
and went out of range in my
right
(J)
Some folks don't care
much for the full moon. Ask
most any law-enforcement
officer. Hell tell you he
dreads it because people get
. bony and often figftts break out
:. and give us a lot of trouble.
silly and do all
sorts of crazy things. '
'. But that's not what
intrigues me. The moon
drawing the tides is very fas-,
grating, and we marvel and
say to ourselves, How could
ft? But we know it does.
And experienced fanners
(except the new modem version)
plant their crops by the
moon: underground types,
like radishes and potatoes,
are planted in the dark o' the
moon; above-ground, like
Beans and spinach, are
planted when the moon is'
There are so many marvels
to interest us. Camellias
bloom in early March if our
weather is somewhat warm,'
^yg
middle of April if, like this
year it's very cold.
Of course, some know-itjlls
don't believe anything.
They are "wise in their own
counceits." '
You can start an argument
any day by saying that* you
believe in water dousers.
Save your breath! Even if
you tell them this anecdote
they won't believe:
When the Bufferin Co.
began work on a new plant
in Jersey they couldn't find
water. Thousands of dollars
were spent drilling wells and
all came up empty. Finally,
someone heard of Kenneth
Roberts, the renowned writing
genius in Maine who had
written a book entitled Water
Unlimited. . ' .
pp called
him asking how they could
get in touch with Henry
Gross, the man in his book
who could find water. Mr.
"Roberts was glad to oblige..
Henry Gross walked over
their property, holding his
forked branch and in no time
flat told mem where to drill
Result all the water they
need from men on!
Still more amazing is that
Mr.Gross — by only using
maps sent to him — advised
a religious order in Africa
where to sink a welL They've
had . plenty of water ever
since!
Ihsuring is only part of t^ie problem; ensuring, the other
By BILL BRADLEY
US; Senator (D-N.J.)
The United States is in
desperate need of'a health
care plan.
We are one of the few
the listening sessions. Many
of these citizens had written
letters to me about health
care in the past and the sessions
gave them a chance to
elaborate on their concerns.
The personal stories that I
it Is up to alf of us to see that
pur right to health care is honored;
under the present system, it isn't
While small-business : included in their coverage,
owners spoke of the costs of
insuring employees, many r Health-care providers
concerned citizens told me expressed other
about the problems of One was that many people
insuring themselves! do not have access to
One unemployed resi-
they do not have insurance.
Subsequently, many
patients do not make it to
the providers untfl their illness
had advanced and
then it may to too late.
The providers also aai^
that cost control should be a
For instance, the smallbusiness
A Garfield proprietor based more on healm-insur- >vhich create hkn admlDfsr
told me that he wants to "be
developed countries that
does not have a national
health care system, the
absence of which has meant
that many citizens either do
not receive proper medical
care or they do not receive
any medical care at all. (—•/.
Clearly, a plan must fee
developed.
In order that the best
health'care package might
be created we must come
together-and share our
ideas. Every dtizen has had
to deal with health-care
issues and therefore has
something to contribute.
On Dec 3, 1992, I held
three listening sessions in
New Jersey, which proved
helpful to me for two rea-
It is my personal ooqviction
that all Americans do
sum for a person that is out
opportunity to hear about coverage for just six of his of work.
New Jerseyans face when A small business-owner similar experiences. Many
