Conclusions
VATS resection of GEB using modern 60 mm staplers is a relatively easy and very effective technique.
In our patient with synchronous lung cancer and a GEB, reverse order of the interventions would
have been more appropriate: removal of the GEB on the right side followed by a lobectomy on the
left side a month later. The patient with secondary spontaneous pneumothorax should have been
scheduled for surgery at her first occurrence of pneumothorax.
