A. North <strong>Idaho</strong><br />

North <strong>Idaho</strong> is characterized by many natural lakes and water bodies. The area<br />

has extensive glacial valleys with many wetlands and open water areas. The<br />

surround<strong>in</strong>g geography is characterized by coniferous <strong>for</strong>est, open granite peaks,<br />

talus slopes and permeable well dra<strong>in</strong>ed granitic soils which are at risk <strong>for</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>vasion by many terrestrial <strong>in</strong>vasive species. In contrast to the rest of <strong>Idaho</strong>,<br />

irrigation and agriculture is not the primary use of the water resources. Recreation,<br />
