SPECIFYING INFORMATION Installation notes When Designing, Specifying and Installing a Helvar lighting control system always refer to latest technical information (Installation guides, User and configuration manuals) found from the product packagings and online from www.helvar.com. Cable Requirements • DALI connections of up to 300 m can be made with any 2 wire 0.5 - 1.5 mm 2 mains rated cable • The DIGIDIM panels must be earthed as shown in the installation instructions • In rare instances where the environment may be electrically noisy, due to adjacent circuits carrying high switching currents, we recommend a 2 wire twisted pair screened and sheathed cable. • DALI cable must be mains-rated and the maximum voltage drop along the length of the cable must not exceed 2V. Connection Cable Type Cable Length DALI 0.5 mm² to 1.5 mm² max. 300 m @ 1.5 mm 2 mains rated cable (recommended) Note: Supply output 250 mA (nom) S-DIM Low loss RS485 type; multi-stranded, max. 1000 m (without repeater) twisted and shielded; 3 or 4 core plus screen; 0.22 mm 2 to 1.5 mm 2 Recommended: one or two twisted pairs (screened and earthed) e.g. ‘Belden 8102’ 96 Helvar | Data is subject to change without notice.
