completed before May 1 st . Documentation from the
college/university Office of Admission/Scholarship visited must be
given to the post secondary counselor the first day the student is
back in school. Failure to do so will result in those days being
counted as an unexcused absence. Students may not schedule
college visits on exam days. For a college visit to be excused, the
student must obtain and complete a “College Visit” form one week
in advance and return with the necessary documentation.
Absences due to college visits not officially approved by the school
will count as an unexcused absence and will count towards
absence totals.
Early Dismissals
A student wishing to leave school during the day must present
a note from his/her parent to the Office of Student Services by
7:50 AM. Parents should indicate in the note the reason for the
early dismissal and the time they would like the student to be
released. At this time the student will be issued a pass to leave the
appropriate class. Students are to sign the register in the Office of
Student Services upon leaving and are to check in with the Office
of Student Services upon return. Students leaving school due to
medical, court, or other appointments are required to bring a note
from the doctor or dentist within 7 days upon returning to school
to OSS. Students are allowed three early dismissals during a
semester. Those early dismissals covered by a return to school
form/note from a doctor, dentist, or the courts will be considered
excused and will not count in this total. A demerit will be issued
for every early dismissal after three not excused by said form/note.
No early dismissal requests left on any voice mail will be accepted.
Enrichment Experiences
Students are permitted five (5) Enrichment Experience days per
academic year. Leadership trainings, leading retreats and grade
school visits are some examples of Enrichment Experiences. Students
are allowed to attend CJ sponsored retreats, field trips and participate
in post season athletic play without being charged an Enrichment
Experience. Attending post season events as a spectator during school
hours is an unexcused absence. Approved Enrichment Experiences
do not count towards absence totals for exam exemptions or as
absences from class for the purposes of tabulating perfect attendance.
Students may not request Enrichment Experiences on exam days. For
an Enrichment Experience to be excused, the student must obtain
and complete an “Enrichment Experience” form and return it to OSS
one week in advance of the experience. Absences due to Enrichment
Experiences not officially approved by the school will count as class
