Minor Infraction Penalties<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s committing minor offenses will receive a demerit,<br />
after school detention or other consequence for each offense.<br />
The accumulation of four demerits or four after-school<br />
detentions will result in the automatic issuance of a Saturday<br />
Detention.<br />
SATURDAY DETENTION SYSTEM<br />
Saturday Detention Rules<br />
1. All school rules including the uniform code apply to<br />
Saturday Detention.<br />
2. Saturday Detention will meet from 8:00 am until 12:00<br />
noon. <strong>Student</strong>s will not be admitted late. Any student arriving late<br />
will be (1) sent home (2) receive no credit for the time (3) be<br />
assigned an additional Saturday Detention. Do not send cash with<br />
your student - $20.00 will be billed from the Business Office due<br />
upon receipt.<br />
3. <strong>Student</strong>s must bring in enough work to keep them busy for<br />
the full four-hour period. <strong>Student</strong>s who fail to have enough work<br />
will be dismissed and not receive credit for time served.<br />
4. <strong>Student</strong>s will remain seated and quiet. <strong>Student</strong>s must raise<br />
their hands and be recognized to ask questions or speak. <strong>Student</strong>s<br />
will receive breaks to use the rest room, sharpen pencils, get<br />
drinks, etc.<br />
5. <strong>Student</strong>s who talk, who do not appear to be working, or who<br />
rest their heads on their desks will be warned. A second violation<br />
or warning will result in the student being dismissed with no<br />
credit given for time served and another Saturday Detention being<br />
issued.<br />
6. <strong>Student</strong>s caught sleeping will be dismissed without a<br />
warning. No credit will be given for time served and an additional<br />
Saturday Detention will be issued.<br />
7. IPODS, cell phones, or other electronic devices are to be<br />
kept in the off position during Saturday Detention. They shouldn’t<br />
be seen or heard.<br />
The only acceptable excuse from a Saturday Detention is<br />
illness verified by parental contact. If a student is ill on the<br />
Saturday morning on which he/she was to serve, the parent must<br />
call the Office of <strong>Student</strong> Services or the student must bring in a<br />
note no later than Monday noon. An additional Saturday DT will<br />
be given if the communication is after this time period.<br />
